Cardinals cruise to easy win
TomatoKetchup (Cardinals) 24 Dave (Bills) 3
All-Madden 6 minutes
Game recap:
From the opening drive to the end of the game, it was all Cards in this one.
Steve Breaston was a beast, starting the game with a 71-yard TD after at least four broken tackles. The hapless Bills' D was no match for wily veteran Kurt Warner or Cards' head coach TomatoKetchup.
Bills tried to play conservative at the start of the game, but that plan was pretty much thrown out the window early because their D couldn't stop Warner and the Cards.
Bills' offence was a nightmare in the red zone, going 1-for-4 with only a field goal. Trent Edwards was injured for two plays on the 8-yard line and Ryan Fitzpatrick decided he liked the colour red on his only pass of the game.
"I want to go back to Philadelphia," said Bills' coach Dave. "The Bills just aren't my kind of team. The offensive line is terrible, the defensive backfield (save for Terrance McGee) is a nightmare, the tight end runs about as fast as I do. Enough already."
Scouting report on TomatoKetchup:
A) Takes way too long to call plays and then extends the pain by audibling and motion players for another 20 seconds. This game was more painful than a tooth extraction - not because Tomato did anything wrong on the field, just the painful length of time it takes him to do anything. Hell, he ran out of time calling defensive plays every second play. I guess what I'm saying is "Hurry the fuck up".
B) Balanced playcaller on offence. While Breaston had most of the work, Tomato spread the ball around. It was simply a case of Buffalo's #3 corner being badly overmatched and the lack of a good pass rush.
C) Solid defensively. In the second half, he stopped blitzing because he knew I pretty much had to throw for the rest of the game.
D) The little engine that couldn't with his run game. If he's a Cards' user, he should pretty much stick to a 70-30 pass/run ratio.

I am guilty of the first one because I like to scope the field and adjust, but defensively it's different because I'm busy trying to rush around and set up all my formation subs (especially in the first half) since they don't carry over online. It's very annoying, so either the CPU ends up picking defensively for me or I make a last second choice on the play I want.

Johnson left, Johnson right, Johnson to the flat, Johnson deep...
BigHerm (Titans) 20 Dave (Eagles) 7
All-Madden, 5 mins
Game recap:
It was pretty much the Chris Johnson Show. 17 of 31 plays were Johnson touches. Johnson left, Johnson right, Johnson to the flat.
Scouting report on Big Herm:
A) Passes to the flats extensively, whether it's Johnson or the tight end Bo Duke.
B) Rarely if ever throws 10-yards or deeper, unless it's to Johnson on a bailout or Britt in the slot.
C) Good pass defender ... God knows he saw enough of them in this game.
D) If you're gonna play Herm, assign your best corner to Britt. Expect Johnson all the time and especially on 3rd and long situations as a receiver.
Johnson is a prime example of Madden cheese IMO. Yes, he's a speedster, but they should just corrupt his receiving ratings so he can't be abused like this ... at least until he's a proven receiver.
I should have backed out of this game and asked for 6-minute quarters. 5 against Herm is pretty stupid, given his ball control mentality.
The likelihood of a rematch is pretty close to zero. Erase that line, I was probably overreacting.
Key stats:
McNabb 18-27 168 1-3
Collins 12-14 151 1-1
Young 1-1 14 0-0

FWIW I thought we played a good game, just as I thought it was a GG last time we played on PS2, but you whined then too. You claimed i mixed my man and zone up well in the first half but then called too much zone in the second half. This was during the Player lock days when you could freeze your men before the play. I mixed my plays up in the second half just as i did in the first half back in that game. I used player lock more in the second half.

I take what you give me, ive had games this year where Johnson didnt even have 10 touches. I would beg you to watch a titans game this year and see how many times Chris Johnson touches the ball. Chris Johnson set Conference USA all purpose yard records in college.
Scouting report on Big Herm:
A) Passes to the flats extensively, whether it's Johnson or the tight end Bo Duke.
B) Rarely if ever throws 10-yards or deeper, unless it's to Johnson on a bailout or Britt in the slot. I have a QB with 70 something accuracy I would have to be really wide open to throw deep to the slowest set of WRs on the game.
C) Good pass defender ... God knows he saw enough of them in this game.
Yes I did you only ran 3x, wtf happened to your "i play andy reid 65-35 offense"
D) If you're gonna play Herm, assign your best corner to Britt. Expect Johnson all the time and especially on 3rd and long situations as a receiver.
PLEASE DO THIS , ill find someone else to throw to if your burning your best cb on my 3rd best WR.
Johnson is a prime example of Madden cheese IMO. Yes, he's a speedster, but they should just corrupt his receiving ratings so he can't be abused like this ... at least until he's a proven receiver.
Once again Dave he didnt set All purpose yardage records by being a bad receiver.
I should have backed out of this game and asked for 6-minute quarters. 5 against Herm is pretty stupid, given his ball control mentality.

Thats fine, i respect your game and wish you nothing but the best. I honestly thought it was a great game. No love is lost if you didnt feel the same, enjoy the season.

Scouting report on Dave:
Offense
Looks to pass virtually all game, he ran 3 times against me. He smartly ran with McNabb 2x when all receivers were covered.
He takes FOREVER to throw the ball, blitz him and you're likely to get a sack. He had countless people open on crossing the field stuff shallow but hardly threw it . He looks for the bigger play with his speedy WRs( cant blame him with all that speed).
Underutilizes one of the biggest weapons in the game in Westbrook, he is infatuated with Jeremy Maclin. I figured that out by his comments in threads and spotlighted Maclin a good portion of the game. He wants Maclin on every pass play i feel like especially 3rd and long on corner routes. He burned me with a Maclin corner route out of the left slot one time so i sat on it and picked it off next time he tried it to seal the game.
My suggestion is spotlight Maclin and manually watch Desean Jackson who seemed to be his other favorite target. He caught a few bad breaks where Jackson couldnt hang on to the high pass after being undercut. He did have 4 completions to Reggie Brown but it feels like that was his 3rd or 4th read on plays where he had a ton of time to go through his progressions. Brown is the slowest of his receivers so its not a bad thing for him to get the ball to him.
HE WAS SCREWED BY THE BUTTON MASH FUMBLE CRAP. It wouldnt have made the difference in the game, but i felt bad for him on that one.
Defense
He seemed to really want to defend the big play, so dink and dunk and run the ball to have success versus his Eagles. He has the best secondary on the game in my eyes so why test them? I kept passes to crossing routes, ins, and in the flats for the most part.
3rd and long he calls some defense that parts like the red sea so i was able to convert with a 5 step drop then pass to the slot guy running a post route.Last edited by Herm; 08-15-2009, 11:34 PM.Comment

I probably overreacted to our game Herm. I do that.
You should know that by now.
Hell, I still play Mr. Zone Davon.
The Davon callout thread set MM records.
Scouting report on Dave:
Offense
Looks to pass virtually all game, he ran 3 times against me. He smartly ran with McNabb 2x when all receivers were covered.
I couldn't stop Johnson and I like to throw, what can I say. If you look at most of my game reports the 65-35 ratio is pretty good.
He takes FOREVER to throw the ball, blitz him and you're likely to get a sack. He had countless people open on crossing the field stuff shallow but hardly threw it . He looks for the bigger play with his speedy WRs( cant blame him with all that speed).
That's true. I have slow reflexes. But I try to mix my gameplay and simply throwing short passes all game - while pretty easy - seems tacky to me. I would feel I'm cheating you as an opponent if I didn't have a nice mix of short, medium and deep passes. Seriously. I am that stupid about this.
To be honest Herm, one of the reasons I underutilize Westbrook is because I don't want to feel like I'm cheesing with him.
My suggestion is spotlight Maclin and manually watch Desean Jackson who seemed to be his other favorite target. He caught a few bad breaks where Jackson couldnt hang on to the high pass after being undercut. I always spread the ball around passing. Maclin is admittedly my favourite receiver, but if you look at my game reports, I do everything in my power to be as diversified passing the ball as possible.
Actually, I called a lot of short pass defences, none worked ... and absolutely no 4th corner, safety or linebacker can cover Johnson as a receiver. Not a chance.
3rd and long he calls some defense that parts like the red sea so i was able to convert with a 5 step drop then pass to the slot guy running a post route.
I'll have to keep that in mind. Didn't realize it.Last edited by dave; 08-16-2009, 01:03 AM.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

Sorry the first time i thought you just quoted my post i didnt realize you responded....
Dave you cant worry about feeling like you are cheesing with Westbrook. He is the cornerstone of the Eagles offense and you should get the most out of him. He is one of the great dual threat players in the league.
Im 100% not sorry for anyone who claims I use my teams biggest weapon too much. Football is about mismatches. If you cant cover Johnson on passing plays with a LB or Safety call Nickel and put a corner on him. Then i have the option of running on one less big defender, but thats the joy of mismatches.
Im not claiming anything cheesy about favoring Maclin, just a factual observation for the scouting report. im a firm believer in getting the ball in your best players hands. He is a great weapon and you should definitely try to take advantage of him. Its something i had to note though for anyone playing you. I really feel a big reason for me shutting down your passing attack was spotlighting Maclin and rolling coverage to him. I was willing to let you beat me with the other receivers.
I dont know what defense you called on 3rd and long, in fact its likely it wasnt something you did. I notice on 3rd and long alot on this game(and NCAA) slot wrs and TEs are open on streaks and posts an insanely high number of times. It almost seems the defenses just spread out to defend the sidelines. This happens to me as well, i dont know how to explain it.Last edited by Herm; 08-16-2009, 01:24 AM.Comment

I can learn from what you posted and vice versa. I keep scouting reports on a word file on my pc. I have for a few years now. I usually dont post them because people would get mad if i typed on here what most of them are. I saw you were giving scouting reports so i thought I'd oblige with one as well.
If you pass a lot to the flat and short passes, sorry but I'm gonna put that in my report.
I admit - and everyone knows this - I am an anal fuck who is a whiny biotch about diversified gameplay. I have never denied this or apologize for it.
But I do overreact at times after games, no doubt.
But if you look at my losses in this thread, I'm pretty fair. With TomatoKetchup, I had no issues with his playcalling whatsoever, just how long it took him to do everything.
With Krul, I only whined about that stupid fight for the fumble.
I know I can come across as a sore loser at times, but I would say the same things if I won the game.
And ... fuck Chris Johnson. He averaged 6 yards a catch last year. He's not that good a receiver ... but he's a fucking beast in Madden. My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

Game recap:
If everyone played like Krulmichael I would never complain ever. Krul is the definition of class. Seriously.
A great player manually, but more importantly, a great player from a class point of view.
Mixes his play up religiously, cut me slack on our second "fight for the fumble".
If I played every game the rest of this online season vs. guys like Krul, I'd be a happy man.
We have great, str8, fun games.

Dave!!
First of all, I don't know if i'd ever have the time of patience to match your writing skills.. VERY brutal, honest and written with a certain intellect.. LoL.. you never cease to amaze me.. especially the way you "tell it as it is".. I can always tell when you've had a good or bad game just by the sincerity (or lack thereof) your descriptive writeups.. see now, that's the one thing I fear in playin' ya, you do these scouting/writeups & just straight expose mf'ers.. LoL..damn, at first it's like reading the Monday sports edition of USA Today, especially when I see headlines like this....
Move over Lombardi, there's a new sheriff in town...
LMMFAO!!!!
Dave, your an absolute classic......... & I respect ya.. I can tell ya put away the kid bullshyt a long time ago, and now ya just tell it like a man.... kudos!.. We're gonna have to roll soon enough .. would love to get it in either today or sometime this week.. I got work, training, cardio, and some brief studying goin' on before I fire up the S3 all week, but i'll do what I can to be on no later than 3 or 4 PM PST.. keep this in mind and get back to me when ya can, and keep up the solid writeups.. good stuff bra'.
