it exceeded my expectations. i played the Gamestop demo only a few times and i didn't really feel like playing it anymore. i knew it was just a demo and it wouldn't change my opinion on getting the game. when i picked up the game this morning and started to play it i was instantly in love with it. IMO it was totally different then the demo and i loved it. CPU RB's break tackles a little bit too much though -

for the most part yes, and in that i mean the game play is actaully good. the littel things like formation shifts, being able to set your audibles at the play call screen and individual bump and run on d and also being able to toggle the pre play instructions on and off and run/pass commit are missing, but the game play is much better than it has ever been.

No it doesn't. Is it a good game? Yes. Gameplay good? Yes.
*But* Early on it feels unfinished to me as far as polish. Textures aren't that great up close, and take time to load, announcing is dry and robotic. Peyton Manning sounded like Peyton Manning at the line of scrimmage last year, even calling out audibles as he does in real life. This year he doesn't sound like himself at all. How the hell do you take something simple like that out from last year? The line judges look like zombies. Lucas Oil Stadium isn't very accurate inside, but I will say that the city skyline out of the north window is an impressive touch and that looks quite realistic.
I'm not saying the game isn't worth a purchase, I love the gameplay, but the little things I noticed in only 20 minutes of playing got on my nerves and don't live up to my expectations.
Kudos to the madden team on gameplay, it feels really good this yearLast edited by MmmmBeeeeer; 08-14-2009, 04:46 PM.Comment

This game is nearly perfect IMO. The only thing I would improve is the overall commercial aspect of it. I am talking presentation wise and such. I prefer something more underground feeling, epic feeling, less bright colors. Perhaps blood on the uniforms and shit would be a good addition. Catch my drift? Something with a very raw feel to the presentation. Otherwise, I think the game play is excellent. I really like the game 9.5 IMO on the Xbox360.Last edited by Wrath; 08-14-2009, 04:52 PM.Comment

With that said I'm very happy with the final product, a few annoyances here and there, but like the Show the game is so much fun its easy to overlook them and get addicted.

I would say it's close to living up to my expectations, but...
A) The run game just doesn't feel right - the blocking is horrid and the defensive linemen get way to fast a push into the backfield
B) Sideline awareness is spotty, at best
C) Play by play horrible
D) Pursuit recognition online - if you're a cpu style player like me, the glitchers and goofy runners are going to kill you.
All that said, I still really like the game and think it's, by far, the best of the next-gen Maddens (of course that's like running a 100-metre dash against four other competitors who are paralyzed and just fallen out of their wheelchairs).
If I had to assign a grade, it would be 8.7 out of 10.Last edited by dave; 08-15-2009, 01:02 AM.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000
