Is anyone else having trouble with the deep pass? I cant get anything deep. My only long plays seem to be drags where my WR breaks a tackle and goes the distance. Anyone have any tips?

I set my speed threshold to 42 and I get pretty good separation against slower corners. You're never going to get a clean catch on a streak consistently. But you will see it once or twice a game. -
I don't go for the deep pass very often, but it seems like you should only go for it if your reciever has a step on the db and there is no safety in the area. You also can't just lob it because the defender will catch up to it. And make sure you throw the ball before the reciever is ~25 yards or so away otherwise it will probably fall short and get picked off. I had a nice one last night to Roy Williams for a 40 yard TD pass to the back of the endzone, I should have saved it. It also was on playaction, as soon as I saw the safety commit to the middle of the field I knew I had to try it and he came down with it.
I don't know if you user catch or not, but you can also try holding up on the left stick while throwing so that the QB throws it long and try to manually get to it...manual catching is really fun this year
For defending the flats if the guy is constantly going there I just stick to a cover 2 or manually cover one side with a LB in man to man. What sucks though is that if your opponent recognizes the constant cover 2 its easy to beat.
I've only played tracker games and it does seem that guys will go to the flats in a pinch because it has such a high success rate. Hell I do it too
I am not very good though (0-2 in tracker games), so others might have better advice.Last edited by MmmmBeeeeer; 08-16-2009, 12:30 PM.Comment

Or you can gun it and undercut the throw for a user catch.
I'm not a pro with the deep ball yet but I can tell you with practice, it will become a lot easier.Comment
