Thoughts about the Running Game (or lack there of)

I think it all depends on who you are running behind...me and my brother were playing offline all madden, i was the packers he was the vikings. He couldnt run for shit, the majority of his runs were going to the right. So we checked out his depth chart, and found that the right side of his line was shit. He started running behind McKinne (sp) and Hutchinson and he was getting 5-6 YPC.

Edit - Also in my game against Csonka i did pretty decent running...about 20 carries around 60-70 yards.

Yeah running is really hard, I still had success though. You just gotta stick with it and mix up you're plays, from inside to outside, right to left.

I can't run against the computer for shit, but online I get a few games where I can get a decent run game going. Mad inconsistent in that regard, though.

Maybe you're not trying the right plays. Here are some plays I suggest

          - counters
          - sweeps
          - blasts
          - misdirections
          - draws

Another thing I do on EVERY run play is I assign my offensive line to block to the side I'm running to. For example, if I'm running a sweep left, I assign the line to block left. If I'm running a draw, I do the middle, etc....

That's really all I can tell you. Be patient, wait for the hole and explode through it. You can also bounce runs outside fairly easy this year.

That's all I got. I hope it helps.
Mixing it up certainly helps, but sometimes the D just beasts and gets too much pressure on the backfield.

I ran the ball 15 times against Realist and the 49ers and his DT's were hitting my RB's as they got the ball.....probably 10 times. No joke...it was ridiculous.

Gotta be good with the right stick and keep working it even after you make contact, it's how Houtz pads his rushing stats by using those flop/stumble forward animations to rack up extra yards.....it's part of EA's game to 'fight for those yards' right? So work that right stick like it's your cock.

Personally I wouldn't always match 'block left' with 'sweep left'. If I have the edge pre-snap i might block right and push everyone even further out of my way. That's worked for me too.

You gotta read the D and decide which want you want your blockers to push.

I find running tough myself, maybe it's the Texans o-line, maybe it's me, but just work at it and you'll find success from time to time at least.....

          I'd say 70% games I get 30-50 yards, 30% I'm +50. Maybe don't take my advice then? lol

I get about 70-80 yards a game. Just use different run plays and make sure your passing game is doing ok. Running HB dives for 4 yards won't work anymore.

i have had decent sucess in the running game. there are some games where i struggle but i stick with it because 1. i have to keep the D honest and 2. i cant rely on the 49ers QBs to bring me back from a big deficit

Seems alot easier with the slower speed. I wasn't having any problems before but now you can really things open up and where your blockers and defenders are.

I find running hit and miss.
I find sweeps and pitches way easier than running inside.
Frankly, I really haven't tried to develop my run game this year (it's early yet).
With how my D is playing, I rarely get a chance to run anyway.
