    Running out the clock?

What are the rules about running the clock out?

For example, you have the lead, say you just ran the ball with 45 seconds left in the third, call your next play with 20 seconds left on the play clock and 18 secs left in the third, and then just sit there and let the time run out of the third quarter. I think there was a rule against this at vetz and MM, is there one here?

Also, similar situation in the fourth quarter 4 minutes left up by 10 about to kick a field goal. The field goal is chosen with 35 secs left on the play clock and then not kicked until 15 seconds were left.

I just wanted to clarify on what the rule is.

Id just like to know what everybody's stance is on Bringing a safety right up to the line too. Like boom right on the line...to stop the run?! what if the person only had 15 yards rushing? What about moving multiple players manually pre-snap? the safety on a FG block all the way up to the line to the point where he got called once for offsides? How about constant QB scrambling out of the pocket?

I wasn't going to say anything... you had to make it look like at 47-17 Im a jackass for letting the quarter die down....check yourself and the rules first. thanks.

I actually won the 30 and over madden challenge using my screen 1 out 3 passing plays :gold:
LOL... use the screen play, just don't over do it. I know I use the screen play, because Santana is perfect for it, I just don't over do it. Now if a person is blitzing non stop I will keep hitting them with screens and short passes.

My understanding is you shouldnt be running clock until inside 2 mins unless the game is way out of hand in that case you dont completely run clock but take a few more secs pickng plays and just walk to the line etc.... That is unless the guy getting his ass whipped starts to play like a dickhead or just wants to get it over with and is running clock himself.

This is all i wanted to know. OOBL, stop being such a pussy. I didn't even mention your fucking name.

This wasn't a 30 point game when it occurred btw, it was a 7 or 10 point game.

Well if he is doing all of this to cheese you and exploit the AI then he shouldnt be. That said I do some of this minus the constant QB scrambles but I have never been accused of trying to gain an unfair advantage. I run a lot of zone so moving players to cover holes in the D is a must for me. :dontknow:

I don't play right up on the line I play in the linebacker area with the safety.
And I have played this way every game of 2010. Not one person has complained about this but if I shouldn't be doing this I will stop.

What about moving multiple players manually pre-snap?

This is the biggest bullshit I have heard. I don't manually move any players besides the safety. On some plays I hit triangle then to the left and that moves the players. Again, I haven't been called out for this but if I shouldn't be doing this I won't.

the safety on a FG block all the way up to the line to the point where he got called once for offsides?

My fault. Been trying to block XPs lately and got a little too aggressive.

How about constant QB scrambling out of the pocket?

                Constant? I think not.

Do not run the clock unless there is 2 minutes left in each half. Otherwise pick your play as quickly as possible.

Also, show some respect to your opponent and don't run the score up or kick meaningless FG's when the game has already been decided.

I'm surprised moving men around before the play is such an issue...what's the difference in moving them around yourself oppose to when they do it on their own....the AI moves them some of everywhere.

Running the clock is the lamest thing a guy can do. End of story. It's probably the only thing you'll ever see me complain about in an opponent. Play the game at a decent pace until there is 2 minutes left in the half/end of game.

As for moving guys presnap, I see no reason why it shouldn't be allowed. Moving guys on defense was a rule that was put into effect back on ps2 madden because it took advantage of the AI. From what I've seen this year, that shouldn't be an issue.

I don't run the clock until the last 2 minutes - and even then, I rarely do.
                        I find it boring.
If I'm getting blown out, I prefer guys running it out rather than putting more points on me ... and I would do the same in the reverse situations.

Games are too short to be running the clock.

Mobb, just wanted to clarify he did not run the score up or kick meaningless FG's at all during the game. He just got about ten pick 6's.

Since we are on it, this was my issue with him as well. I played him the other night, and while he didnt do it EVERY pass play, I'd say 50% of the time he did. Hike the ball and I see Manning running diagonally to the sidelines, post up and wait for a WR to get open. He mainly did it when it was a long distance situation.
