In all my years of gaming this was one of my favorite games I have ever played.
Game 2 NLDS. Mets vs Cubs(me) at Wrigley. I'm leading 1-0 in the series.
Top of 1st Jose Reyes leads off with a single. Steals 2nd on the very next pitch. Goes to 3rd on a sac fly. Scores on a sac fly by David Wright.
1-0.
Mike Pelfry is dealing for the Mets.
I threaten a few times during the course of the game. Get nothing out of it. I'm out hitting them but not seeing anything from it. Lilly is pitching lights out.
Bottom of 8. Fontenot grounds out to 1st. Jake Fox pinch hits for Lilly.(Lilly's line: 8IP 3 hits 1ER 1BB 6K's) Gets a single. Pelfry leaves and they bring in Wagner to face Fukudome. Fukudome singles on the first pitch he sees. 1st and 2nd one out. Theriot comes up and sends a fly ball deep to left center..for an out. Fox tags up and goes to 3rd...barely.
Lee comes up and hits a rocket up the middle scoring fox and tying the game. Fukudome to 3rd. Ramirez comes up and hits a grounder deep in the hole to short to the 3rd base side past a diving Wright..Reyes makes the jump throw but can't get Ramirez at 1st. Fukudome scores the go ahead run...Bradley coems up and hits a laser but right at Castillo at second for the final out.
2-1 Cubs...going to the top of the 9th.
BJ Ryan comes in and gets David Murphy to ground to Lee. Marmol comes in to face Beltran. Works a 2-2 count and gets Beltran to pop up to the 3rd base side in foul ground. 2 outs. David Wright(40HR's and 144 RBI's on the year) steps up....quickly goes down 1-2...Marmol throws some high cheese and pops Wright up to Soto right at the plate.
Game over. 2-1 Cubs.
