    Madden Manifesto 2010

sm27 is back, folks. And this is great news for offline franchise players.

For those who remember, back in 2005, it was the work of sm27 and several others on MM that made that year's franchise mode playable. A comprehensive guide to fixing everything from stats to CPU run/pass ratios was released and has been pretty much universally recognized as the most successful community project in Madden history.

The sheer number of people on OS make it the natural place to start looking for people to help out, but I want to invite VSN to get involved as well.

I've already started some of the legwork on figuring out the coach tendency sliders (specifically blitzing) and I've had good results based on casual observation. I'm starting a more in-depth testing process now. Hopefully, since we actually have developer ears (the Manifesto was resented by the previous regime; it's held as a quality standard by the current), we'll be able to get some of the things we can't touch dealt with via patch (such as the frequency of CB blitzes... I can reduce blitzes in general, but not specific types).

Anyways, if anyone wants to take the time to run through a short CPU vs. CPU game and give me some numbers, just pick one in franchise mode and make sure the settings match the ones I post in this example, and post the data here. The more varied the playbooks, the better. Here's a copy/paste job from the post on OS.

Anybody who wants to help out, you're welcome to, please use the following template.

Right now, I'm testing the middle with various playbooks... the first game of the regular season is a wonderful opportunity to see two defenses similar in talent but having vastly different philosophies; the Steelers, an aggressive 3-4, vs. the Titans, a conservative 4-3.

NOTE: I really don't need all the specific categories, but overall vs. base situations is necessary. Of course, the more specific data you're willing to track, the better.

This is VSN. Madden 10 is the perfect example of NFL sim.

You won't have any volunteers here.

Do you personally keep track of all the blitzing stats while watching the game? I've never seen those stats available in the post-game. Thats a lot of work otherwise.

It is a lot of work.

If they actually get this thing up and running, it should make the post patch game even better, and certainly worthy of another rental... Maybe even a purchase.

I'll do it myself if I have too. I want to play an offline franchise, but I'm not going too until it's worth playing.

I might do 1 game and help you out. You'll have to tell me who vs who though.

So you want every team to run with a 4-3 scheme only at this point?

I'll do a couple of games tomorrow. I won't promise the details, but you'll get the base formations for sure.

I want the background settings that influence playcalling to be identical, so yes, I have all teams set to a 4-3 scheme regardless of their playbook. This doesn't make the Steelers run 3-4, of course.

I'm pretty sure that particular setting only affects simulated games (as the specific playbooks aren't used by StateGen), but I don't wanna take anything for granted. Thus, I'm using it in my tests.

                          Adem's thread - http://www.operationsports.com/forum...hise-mode.html

Unfortunately it's falling like a ton of bricks.

And the Manifesto thread - http://www.operationsports.com/forum...0-preview.html

Not many updates on that either. When you have to put so much effort into making a game playable, you tend to lose interest. Hopefully something comes of both threads, though.
