PS3 Just Croaked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sell it on Ebay or Amazon for 100 bux or so, you will get it.

And then add that money for a Slim Jim i.e. The New Slim PS3.......thats what I did.

Damn that sucks man. I get worried everytime I heard my PS3 get loud (the fan that is) when it gets warm (only happens during games) but so far everythings been good. Had it for about 2 and a half years now no probs. *knock on wood*

If something did happen though, I'd prob take what other guys have suggested and just get some money off of it towards getting a new one.

The most common thing i hear about is the Blu ray laser quits reading discs on the ps3. So its not like you can go to radioshack and buy a blu ray laser.

I have a 20 GB launch and havent had any problems outside of a minor scare. My shit would come on and get frozen on the XMB. I pulled the HDD out and reformatted it and reinstalled it. Has been working like new other than that.

Unless you have a "collectible," one of the 60g launch units, which I have, it might be worth sending Sony the $150 if you have the bucks. Last I heard you could get $300 plus for them on eBay. Amazon sells it for much more, lol. If not, ditch it and go for the Slim. I got mine 8/27 and it runs quiet and cooler. The elelctricity costs alone, a reduction of 34%, will pay for the unit in no time.

My launch unit, now refurbished [fan died], is doing very little duty in the living room, and when either is on, an exterior fan blows thru the vent holes and sits on drink glasses, which I wish I had done with the launch unit. In your case, might be a good idea to do what BB said. However, once you do, Sony won't touch it. Turn around with Sony is about 8 days total.

I ended up getting the Slim, I traded in my broken ps3 to game stop and got $ $90 for it.... I just put that towards the slim... It's pretty sweet too, butit was still unessary cash spent....................
