But my strategy is a good FOOTBALL strategy, too. I feel I know the game of football as well as anyone that I play, probably better, and its why I feel I shouldn't lose that often because, in my mind, I feel I know the game (both Madden and real football) better than my opponent.

The user skills is just an added bonus. It's not really a factor on PS3, but on PS2, it was a good crutch to have to bail yourself out of a play that didn't look promising from the start.
In terms of a SIM game, it's more about play calling now more than ever. Stick skills won't bail you out like it did on PS2.
