    NBA LIVE 10 Feedback Thread

    Hey guys,

I just signed up here and wanted to introduce myself. My name is Marcus Stephenson, and I'm a producer on NBA LIVE 10. I was wondering what you guys think about it so far, and when you play the demo on September 10th, I'd love to get your feedback. We realize where we've been in the past (don't worry about that lol), and we also know where we need to be. We're pretty confident that NBA LIVE is back, and when you play it for yourselves, we think you'll think the same thing.

      Welcome to VSN.

For some reason, I seem to doubt that.

Why is NBA Live so good when it comes to presentation/graphics but absolutely horrendous when it comes to player models in motion and gameplay?

I'll admit I will try the demo because it does appear there are signs of improvement but you guys are still light years behind 2k at this point.

Our NBA Association board speaks for itself, really.

99% of all the NBA chises that were posted for the 2008-09 season were played on 2k. 2k may not have all the glitz and glamour you get with Live but when it comes to achieving realistic stats and a true sense of "simulation" that is where 2k shines.

Guys running up and down the court dunking from the free throw line over and over again is far from it.

Is this year's version of Live gameplay still running rampant with that kind of stuff?

If you work for EA cool I'll take your word for me but in the back of my mind I know it's prolly bullshit. Live looks OK as always. I buy it like I do every year since 05 and TBH in 09 the game was terrible. I played it because I had lots of friends who played it. Clubs were a great feature for team play and online was better then 2k to me. Gameplay was just OK. Fiba teams had the same shots and I saw an article and live only has around 30 Signature shots when 2k is already miles ahead with 150+ sig shots? wtf. NBA Live is not back but it is better then 09. I like what I have seen in the videos but gameplay still needs some improving and the rim sound does NOT sound like it does in real life. I understand it's a game but atleast when a shot hits the rim make it realistic not like it's bouncing off a nerf ball hoop. 2k is still better IMO even tho we have seen little gameplay.

I bought NBA Live 09 just to have the best of both worlds. I loved the features on the game, I also spent quite some time messing around in the practice gym before games and what not. The game is definitely headed in the right direction, definitely. The DNA feature was pretty cool as well as Be A Pro mode. Now what made me trade the game in was when I played my first game online. I seemed like I was playing Live in an arcade or something. The dude I was playing was basically scoring at will, if he wanted to to dunk..he'd dunk..and there was NOTHING I could do about it. Offline was pretty fun though, not going to lie. But anyways like I said, I'm looking forward in seeing how the game improved.

Also as Mike mentioned Loading Screens in Live were terrible and really for Dynasty Mode. It took so long to set my lineup and me having to save everytime I made a trade or signed a Free Agent was very very annoying. Even when a major deal went down in Dynasty Mode it was just a little snit-bit of "Warriors Trade Maggette to Pistons for Hamilton." I don't know why you did away with Right Analog crossovers. One of the good features live had for dribbling and crossing over. You guys really focus on Online play a bit to much and not simulation basketball. Instead I go online to a team play game and see the usual running down the middle and dunking. Dunking or shooting 3's is NBA Live Online. Simple as that. I know it's gonna be the same way this year just from looking at gameplay.

Cool guys, I don't blame you for thinking the way you do.

NBA LIVE 10 is a jumpshooting game (on all-star difficulty = recommended level) and not a dunkfest by any mean.

i'm pretty confident that you'll enjoy the demo. Just let me know! And thanks for the welcoming guys, glad to be here. If you try to drive the lane all the time (spin, spin, dunk mentality from LIVE 09), one of two things will happen:

                      You'll get stripped

                      You'll draw a collision.

I don't want you to be scared away by any means but like you said, you can't blame us for thinking the way we have.

I'm anxious to play the demo just because it's been so long since I've played an NBA game, much like PB.

Question though, how would a particular difficulty change the style of game? You say all-star changes the game from a dunkfest to a jumpshoot first game?

Difficulty imo only changes the success rate of the CPU, not the approach they take to score for the most part.

We turned off basic mechanics and beefed up success rates of things in rookie and Pro. That's why if you've been reading the previews, they're talking about the game on All-Star.

And don't worry man, won't be scared away.

While EA has made attempts to make the game pick up and play, its actually too easy to do everything and do it over and over and over. This is with anyone and everyone. Hardly any disparity with one player to the next.

I have played every EA pro basketball game since Jordan vs Bird.

EA drops a new feature, and copy and pastes everything else or just takes out a feature instead of improving on it.

So that leads me to this question, who are you guys listening to? OR are you listening and the bigwigs going in their own direction?
