Im very sure some people get their asses kicked in eafl then claim its because its not sim and they probably arnt even sim ballars themselves but just needed an excuse instead of admitting they got they got wooped

ps. I was in eafl e for 2 seasons (made 2 playoffs) and would still be there now if not for your commish rule , so i hardly feel like i looked like a easy softcore oppponent that u speak of

Agreed. I just wanted to make it clear that wasn't the intention.

I've been around the online Madden Community for a long time and this sim vs. freestyle debate has been going on since day one. I can remember seeing threads like this about Madden 2003 and the argument has never done much more than frustrate those who are involved.

I came out of the sim community at sites like Madden Mania and Madden Nation (now Sports Gamer ) and I think most would probably characterize me as a sim player even today, but I've built a lot of strong relationships with the tourney community and have a great deal of respect for a number of those guys. It should go without saying there there's a big difference between tourney style play and cheating (which is never acceptable in any part of the community).

I would definitely encourage people who are only familiar with one group or style to learn more about what other people are doing, if for no other reason than to have a better understanding of why people play the game a certain way. But even if there's no interest at all in doing this, there is enough community to go around for everyone to be involved and a constant debate over style of play ideology isn't going to help anyone improve their experience.

As is always the case, listening and understanding are a lot better options than back and forth arguing about whose brand of Madden is better and why.

As you know, running a league is no small achievement and requires a ton of preparation and dedication if it's to be successful. Even playing in a league is a pretty big commitment, so running one isn't something everyone is going to be able to do at a high level.

I agree that there are a lot of "also rans" when it comes to leagues, but I think the community has to go to more to help each other when it comes to make sure even more people can be successful. Gotta spread that knowledge around to improve the overall quality of the community.. you know?

Most people don't know what SIM is anymore.

I wish Madden Mania was active. They had rules people followed, and didn't stretch the unwritten ones forever....

                      No more arguing.. it's over.

Yes, i'm sim, i like it sim, and i will complain when playing somebody who i dont feel is as sim as i am. Your freestyle, you like playing the game how you play it, i dont think high of it but just do what you gotta do.. Im sim and like i said earlier it's like bitter old men playing a chess match.

It's such a fine line, and like KoachK said, the term "sim" is so subjective anyway, that I can't believe this arguement is still going on. You guys probably agree on your points but have different meanings of "sim" so you're arguing over nothing.

                        Let it go.

That is mostly a part of the show, not the actual guys. They encourage them to be loudmouths and talk shit. I met a couple of the guys at a tournament that talked a lot of shit and it was nothing like that. For the most part, some of them listened to their iPods. It wasn't an accurate representation of them as people I think.

Totally agree. I tried to do something like this specifically for leagues a few years back and it worked for a little while but then dropped off. I'd love to see the community get more organized around supporting each other's league pursuits.
