Are new PS2 games still playable on the PS3 systems? I have a system that is BC but I've never tried new games, just older ones like GOW. If so, I might get this game for PS2, since I don't play co-op online and might just play with the fiancee. Also it seems I would just play it on a limited time and don't want to pay $60 for it on release day ($30 FTW).

I dont see why not....they said it was FULLY Backwards compatible. Like having a PS2 in your PS3....

I don't read comic books, but I like the characters and shit. It's mainly the gameplay. It's all hack and slash. It's incredibly one dimensional gameplay that uses the novelty of it's characters to try and make up for it.

i really liked the first one, dont know why but i loved the Silver Surfer on the game, Wolverine was pretty bad ass too, the Spider Chick was kinda useless, Blade rotted, Deadpool and Colossus were the heavy hitters for me, i used the Invisible Woman for stealth, but the CPU were morons, she practically runs into a guy and pushes him, and he just acts like nothing happened.

i definitely wanna do the fusion attacks, imagine a Hulk, She Hulk, and the Thing power move on a guy, guy would be so dizzy, he'll sell Marvel to Disney, but seriously i cant wait to play as Venom, i was pissed i couldnt play as him or Hulk in the 1st one, closest thing i got to playing Venom was in SM3 and the crappy WOS game

Venom was available in MUA as DLC along with Magneto, Dr. Doom and Sabretooth on the evil side.
