    Need For Speed Shift

Well if anyone knows me I am sucker foo racing games and this game is firmly on my radar.

I hit IGN to and was happy!

Need for Speed Shift is a glorious return to greatness (and even excellence) for EA's seminal racing franchise. Slightly Mad Studios has delivered a driving experience that, while not completely accurate in terms of its simulation aspects, is practically dead-on in terms of what it's like to race around some of the world's best racing circuits. The career mode could (and should) have been a little better, but the act of driving is basically phenomenal.

    IGN
Ratings for Need for Speed Shift
    8.5 Presentation
    Minimal but still heart-pumping.
    8.5 Graphics
Generally stellar visuals with a tad bit of blurriness here and there from mip-mapping issues.
    9.5 Sound
Brilliantly executed in pretty much every respect.
    9.0 Gameplay
The driving experience is incredible, and the controls are practically perfect for this approach. But, the career mode is lacking.
    7.5 Lasting Appeal
Lots of events to partake in, but the career mode won't keep you racing for hundreds of hours like some of the competition. The online is very fun, but minimal in options.

    9.0 Outstanding OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Game comes out next wed........i will be there

Yeah, I really miss the free roam games. Most Wanted was espcially bad ass. Carbon good as well.

This one looks good but with GT5 coming out this fall as well, I'll probably pass.

Or download it for the pc. :x

            5 days ago from EA:

“In the last few weeks we’ve received a lot of messages and forum posts about a demo so we’re currently looking into the feasibility of releasing a demo for SHIFT. We are committed to releasing the best Need for Speed game so we kept the entire team working on the game to make sure we release a really great experience.

We’re really proud of what the guys at SMS and Black Box have created and we can’t wait to get the game in your hands.”

I recommend checking out the trailer on gametrailers.

I saw it earlier and was impressed but forgot to make a thread for it.

IGN has a video review in that link jms posted...and after watching that, it seems like NFS looked at Forza and said, "Hey, that looks really cool...let's try and do that".

Stick with what you know. I won't be picking this game up...maybe a rental.

They also said on 1up that its not as sim as Forza. A larger audience could jump into the game and other features are easier, such as tuning ones car.

Doesn't seem that much better than GRID to make it worth getting imo, very similar style though

Exactly...the phrase Need For Speed meets Forza is a perfect description for this game.

Personally, I think they should stick to what makes them popular.

Need for Speed needs to stop this racing on closed tracks bullshit and get back to what made their games amazing. Free roaming the streets looking for races and running for cops.

You have no idea how disappointed I was in Pro Street after getting so stoked to play a next-gen NFS game.

Good god that game was fucking horrible.
