Was at my local GS today and the manager was telling me about this.. Interesting. I might get one..
And you thought you were going to be spending enough money on the $150 edition of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 with the night vision goggles.
Tonight, during a press conference in Los Angeles, California, Activision, in conjunction with Microsoft, revealed a new limited edition Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 system bundle. We don't have pictures of this bundle yet, but it's got a lot of goodness packed into it.
The bundle will include a limited edition Xbox 360 console, a 250 GB hard drive, two wireless controllers (limited edition as well) and a copy of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (regular edition, not the one with the goggles, sorry). The system will retail for $399 and will go on sale November 10th, the same day as the game. Pre-orders should be available shortly on Amazon and Gamestop, so watch those websites.
What to make of all this...well, it's all kinds of awesome.
First off, Microsoft has finally confirmed the much rumored bigger hard drive for its system. It hasn't confirmed whether it'll be sold separately, but we don't see why not, especially considering that the company is making such a huge push for its downloadable Games on Demand program. (BTW, wouldn't it be crazy if Microsoft made the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare available for the program that day? I think so.) There's also the rumor of the 250 GB Forza 3 bundle making the rounds, but we're guessing Microsoft held off on that to make room for this announcement. Now the sky's the limit. Overall, it's good to see confirmation here.
Secondly, another system bundle couldn't hurt. And this one certainly has more packed into it than the Resident Evil 5 one did back in March. The system isn't bright red (it's a cool blackened color), it has an extra controller, and the bigger hard drive. And it's involving a game that'll sell kabillions of copies on November 10th (well, okay, millions, getting ahead of myself there).
Finally, Microsoft has one more killer deal with the game, whether you buy the bundle or not. It'll have access to two exclusive downloadable maps from day one of the game's release. No time frame has been given on how long it'll have these, but Xbox 360 owners will no doubt flock to them like vultures on a dead body. It's going to be a good deal for both companies, and current and future system owners.
Hurry up, November...
