    anyone else enjoying offline franchise?

just curious if anyone around here plays this game offline vs the cpu in a franchise? i havnt touched online and was about to trade this game in. But i gave it one more shot and it paid off. The sliders i have work great for me and the game is alot of fun and realistic to play.

As the browns, i went 11-5 and got the #5 spot in the playoffs. Played at SD last night and got my ass kicked 31-0. The great thing about this game as well as the regular season is the cpu doesnt make me feel cheated at all. Robo QB is almost non exsistant, but i do see it toward the end of the game and halfs. The cpu run game is perfect imo. totally realistic results for me. The cpu pass game is netting real results too.
Over the past 4-5 games i finally got sliders tweaked to the point where the cpu is only getting the occasional big play and i havnt seen a pick 6 in weeks. The cpu is going on drives of 5 mins or longer which is awesome. Only problem is i think i need to bump up the game time from 12 to 15 mins now because the clock is getting chewed up by both me and the cpu.
Scoring totals are a bit higher then i want, but thats my fault for sucking and not having the right sliders. I also think the tackling stats are fucked up. the cpu runs 60 plays per game and i end up with my leader tackler having 3-5 tackles. But then 8 assists. Those numbers need to be combined for an accurate number.

i need to bump up the fumble slider cause i noticed last night that my totals for the year were low.

one other thing i think makes a big difference in this game is the speed threshold slider. I have it at 65 because the big plays were just getting way out of hand. at 65, its now acceptable. There are still enough of them to make it feel real, but not to many to cause frustration. And it also helps kill the cpu getting the pick 6 all the time.

back to my playoff game, it sucked to lose 31-0 in SD, but they dominated. they had 2 long drives of 6+ mins (12 min Q) and took a 10-0 lead into halftime. I couldnt get a run game going at all, and they had just enough pressure to disrupt my passing game. I couldnt find anyone open. I didnt feel cheated at all. There was no wtf moments. It was just the cpu out playing me. The 2nd half fell apart after they got it to 13-0. I went for it on 4th and 6 during a drive where i was finally moving the ball. It didnt work out so well. It was all over after that.

one other note. Pass rush is also not an issue for me. My DE got 22 sacks to lead the league. After week 12 i changed the sliders to make it harder to rush the QB and it worked out. this guy shouldnt have come close to 22 sacks. But after i adjusted things he only got 4 more sacks. I was getting alot of coverage sacks too.. But pressure from the 34 is tough, but from nickle or dime its realistic.

sucks that after this patch drops i am going to have to fuck with the sliders all over again....

i agree. Sliders work great and i dont know why EA is patching them, but whatever. But once you find sliders that work for you the game is awesome and gives a very realistic representation of the NFL.

my sliders arent based on anyone else. I just took what i was using on ncaa and applied it to madden and then adjusted from there

Well, I haven't started one. I want to, but I'm waiting for the patch. Especially if its going to improve slider effectiveness.

      And this:

I'm having tons of fun in my chise despite 3 consecutive playoff losses.

All good though, just hired Lowie Smith and signed Keith Brooking.

My team has improved pretty significantly since starting and now in the 4th season, I really feel like I have a shot at the SB.

Well I thought that last year too but apparently I was wrong. Just had a really easy schedule. Link in my Sig. :D

Yea I came up with my own sliders. I have had some tight games, but I hear the sliders patch. If I bump up the damn run-blockin it affects the return blocking schemes. Very annoying.

I havent messed with the speed threshold, but I think I should, because I am encountering some big play problems on the cpu side.

Yup, I'm just fucking around right now simming through seasons, and checking out the Madden-generated draft classes while I wait for both patches to drop. Need patch #2 to fix those sim stats before I can start my franchise report.

it makes a huge difference. i was getting really frustrated by the quick 2/3 play drives that were 70/80 yards. I turned up the speed threshold to 65 and now i only get burned if i make a mistake. This includes cpu runs, passes and pick 6.

i have a team total of 15 INT and i think 10 were for TD. But since my last adjustment with the speed threshold which was like week 12, i havnt had any pick 6
but on the flip side i have given up some legit break aways. 50 yard runs or passes and had some myself. But these are not happening 3 or 4 times a game.
nothing thrills me more then having the cpu go on a 12 play 80 yard drive that eats up 6 -7 mins.

Glad I stumbled on this, St. Fran. I was up and ready to start my Franchise when I realized how few many tackles DB's were getting over the course of the season. And pancakes from the O-Line. That really took the wind out of my sails somewhat but was planning on just playing through it...

However, I came across your post...

Can you please fill me in on both these patches and whats the eta on these patches?

Or if anyone has the answer, please fill me in.

I know the first patch is in the hands of Sony and Microsoft, and has been for about a month now. It's expected to drop soon.

Patch #2 is being worked on by the Madden team, and when Loomas talked about fixing the sim stats, he said he has to focus on the big issues because he doesn't have a lot of time to get it in...so I'm guessing the Madden team is working hard to get patch #2 out as soon as possible.

Here is the list of fixes for patch #1:

                      * Added Super Bowl and Playoff Field conditions for Online Franchise
                      * Fixed False Start Grieving issues with Online games
                      * Fixed video player issue where video would hang on latent connections
                      * Improved uploaded highlight quality
                      * Switched ranked online games to 7 min Q's
                      * Fixed random stability issues
                      * Added Broadcast Cam!

                      Gameplay Specific fixes:

                      * Tuned slider effectiveness (Run blocking and broken tackles esp.)
                      * Changes run blocking slider to not effect special teams
                      * Made fatigue effect ratings more

                      * Fixed WR release to where receivers release to both sides
                      * Fixed incorrect spotting on punts out of bounds
                      * Reduced/removed holding on kicking plays
                      * Improved toe drag catch logic
                      * Improved pursuit angles for outside running plays
                      * Fixed defenders in pursuit running away from O-Line
                      * Better play recognition in man coverage

                      * Fixed double pass online exploit

I put the big ones for me in bold. As for patch #2, here is a list of things that Ian says they are working on:

                      -Sim stats
-Reducing the effectiveness of passes to the flats
                      -Improve run/pass blocking
                      -Remove replay cut-offs on highlights
-Improve pursuit angle of CPU defenders in passing/running game
                      -Stadium-specific sounds working correctly
                      -Add more auto-replays
-Looking at ways to decrease CPU lame duck passes, and therefore increase sacks

Are patches usually easily downloadable through the online section in Madden?

you can't even get into the game unless you install the patch.... unless you don't wanna play online
