What do you define as "sim" Madden?

See this is why I'm getting the impression that most rules are in place to make the game more enjoyable. That's obviously a good thing for those involved, but it contradicts the "they do it in the NFL" arguement.

I think most restrictions are made so that you don't run into to somebody running the same play all game, you don't run into people that go for it every time it's 4th and 8, and just in general you're having a fun game of Madden by your standards.

If this is a fair assessment, is the term "sim" a wrong way to describe it? I would say yes, and that's possibly the root of confusion between the sim/freestyle communities.

I'd go for it in any situation on 4th and short, If you have enough confident in your Offense then why not? If my opponent can't stop it then it's his fault for not having a good enough D.

It is sim punting the ball. Going for it on every 4th down? Honestly, how often does that happen in the NFL? We have that you can go for it on 4th down but in certain situations, like in the NFL. You do not see teams going for it 4th and short in their own territory (very rarely anyway).

The difference is if a coach in the NFL goes for it and they miss, and it costs his team the game, the coach will probably get fired. All you get is a tick in the loss column, and you just play another game.

I think most coaches in the NFL, given the chance, would go for it all the time on 4th and inches. They just don't want to lose their job.

In old leagues, people would drop seven into zone, and have a standard four down lineman rush. They would all crash into the middle, and with a QB like David Garrard I would roll out of the pocket when the pressure hit the middle, because it's the smart thing to do. This would not be an initial roll out, rather I see where the blitz is and they are giving me the outside with no containment so I take it.

Some people think its cheese to even step out of the pocket at all with the QB, I think if you're going to be dumb and have an interior rush on a fast QB they should be allowed to roll to the outside (as long as you don't go straight to the sidelines).

as long as youre still thinking - pass- first. some just run to run. if you do it select times for select reasons its fine. but if you roll out to pass just waiting for the AI to give up so its an easier pass- thats not sim either.

but i have noticed if you stay in the pocket the AI blocking will keep them off you for a couple beats. its better than it use to be. yet dumb kids still sprint backwards
