    the irony of MGS4

i just remembered why i dont play games on the ps3. The dam installs for these games is annoying. But while sitting here for 20 mins waiting for the game to install i noticed some irony.

The health warnings that scroll on the screen during this time. Things like dont play when tired, dont sit to close to the TV, play in a well lit room, take breaks every 15 mins, just jerk off into a cotton cloth towel,.....all the while there is a nig huge solid snake on the screen hot boxing a freshly lite stogy....not5 only that, this mfrer is chain smoking these bad animals. He has already smoked 2 while i am still on my first....he is also flicking his ashes on the floor

can anyone tell me how CQC works in this game? i dont have a manual and the in game guide isnt helping.

i am looking to sneak up behind a guy and just grab him and choke him out or somthing, but i cant seem to figure out what the CQC button is....

starting to get into this game now. There are alot of different things you can do and alot of controlls to get used to. I am so used to COD4 that its tough to get used to this scheme

CQC is useful for engaging enemies at a close range. Snake can only use CQC if he has no weapon equiped or if the CQC icon is in his item(like a pistol knife or dart gun)

Sneak up close to an enemy and press the R1 button without aiming a weapon.
<- on the left stick + R1 will knock the enemy out/throw them to the ground
            reapeatly pressing chokes them out
pressing triangle will cut there throat with the knife or use the syringe if it is equipped
L1 will aim if you have the pistol or dart gun
and holding R1 and moving the analog stick drags the enemy.

Thats what the manual says hope it helps some.

imo, to really enjoy MGS4 you would've had to have played through the old games as well or have a basic understanding of the storyline.

There's a lot of references to past versions of the game and a lot of stuff (nanomachines, etc etc) that really wouldn't have made an ounce of sense to me if I had not played through the other games.

As far as playing through it again franchise, you're right. I played through it once but could never find it in me to play through it again. Which I was able to do with the PS1 version. I guess age has something to do with it.

But by far, the best gaming experience I've ever had. The game was 10/10.

If you are used to the clusterfuck cod4 is, it's definitely going to be an adjustment.

MGS is more about being stealthy as opposed to just running and gunning.

I'm a big fan of the series but I haven't touched MGS4 in two months since I got it.

I want to pick it up again...

There sure is nothing like 20 minutes of gameplay followed by an hour of cutscenes...

I watched my friend play for about 2 hours once...actually, I watched him PLAY for maybe 10 minutes, then watched loading screens and cutscenes the rest of the time.

There is such a thing as "too much."

the game play is kick ass, but those cut scenes are boring. I could deal with them if they were shorter, but they are long and just not that interesting

I actually thought the cinematic experience of it was amazing. Again, goes back to really immersing yourself in the story that goes back and touches up on things that happened in previous versions of the game.
