Team-Up League

We had little discussion here and there about possibility doing this, want to see what the general interest is...

Doing a VSN Team-Up League. Obviously, we wouldn't have enough for 5 on 5 and I think that's actually a good thing. I'm thinking something like 2 on 2 or even 3 on 3.

We can work out the details later on, I know Crimson said he would potentially be interested in this, so maybe he can run it... I just want to see if anyone else would be down.

It would be hard as hell to get all the connections to work. It's hard enough to get 1v1 to work sometimes. We can try though.

Last year it got a lot better as time went on, initially, as it seems with most 2k games, it was a wreck.

2 vs. 2 or 3 vs. 3?

I like 2 vs. 2 because it allows you to work a little bit better with your teammate, but the only thing I'm concerned in 2 vs. 2 is... say my team is PG-PF. Well the other team is PG-SG. There isn't as much interaction between users.

I'd prefer 2 vs. 2 because my friend and I played that a lot last year and had a pretty good rhythm, I just fear in a league sort of atmosphere 2 vs. 2 wouldn't be enough to get a decent amount of interaction. However, with 2 vs. 2 we could get more "crews" or teams.

You'd have to get everyone's NAT settings before starting this league. Everyone has to have an open NAT for this to work.

We never really had many connection problems online last year with 2 vs. 2. The main gripes were trying to get into the lobby and then when games would get to 5 on 5. 2 vs. 2 always ran very smooth on last years game.

It's not about running smooth, it's about the ability to connect. If someone has a strict connection trying to play against someone with a moderate connection, the game will not connect. Nobody in the league can have a strict network, not for the sake of the game running smoothly, but for the sake of playing the game period.

We had 0 problems with any connections during last years game. We played regulars quite often and never even had interruptions.

Well, here on VSN, we had many problems last year. It's the same with every game and every year. I'd love to give this a try, but it will take a lot of time to work out the kinks and see who is actually able to play each other.

Since team-up is kind of a mess right now I guess we'll hold off for the time being.

I like the ideas of crews, but I really just kind of want to play as real teams. We do have the ability to do unranked player matches which is a possible opportunity but there are still plenty of glitches in that including not being able to sub in and out.

I'd be down, I was thinking about making a league where there would be GM's or Captains and they would draft players to play for their team, that'd be sweet.
