Is there any way to get my game saves from the old 60 gb HDD to my new system ? My 60gb wont turn on at all due to the YLOD.
If I take the hdd out of my 60 gb ps3 and put it into the new ps3 im buying it will immediately make me reformat right?Comment

The answer on how to retrieve info from the old HD is pretty much No. As evidenced in this useless thread on the PS boards http://boardsus.playstation.com/play...hread.id=64753
The problem is entirely on how the HD is formatted. Sony uses some proprietary formatting standard, that is not read by any sort of interface. So you can't use an external enclosure or adapter to plug into your PC and retrieve the data. Neither the interfaces or adapters or the PC will even think the PS3 HD exists.
But the answer to if it will reformat the HD if you put it in the new slim PS3 is yes
This sucks balls dude, I am sorry man. I was hoping to find a solution for ya.

My biggest blow in this whole ordeal is my fallout 3 file with 55+ hours on it. I was looking forward to buying the Game of the year edition with all the DLC and playing it. That really hurts that i lost all that.Comment

See if you cant hook it up to a sata port on a PC and try to retrieve your old game saves. How you will get it on the new PS HD I dont know. Maybe google will help you locate the proper folders game saves go into and you can copy and paste the file to the new HD after the PS3 formats it??? Of course you will have to take it out and hook it up the the PC as well. :dontknow:
