    Metal Gear Collection Compatibility

    Does the collection work on the new slim PS3? I have had the itch to play the old games again, but I am worried they won't run in the new PS3.

      No. The collection was formatted in their original copies.
      MGS2 and MGS3 are in PS2 format
      MGS1 is still in PS1 format.

          (*)I am a 25 year old pathological liar. I didn't have any friends growing up, so I feel that I have to impress people I may never meet online with fabricated stories.               I agree. I'm not saying that they should give every series the God of War treatment but, especially in the case of MGS, they should've just compiled all three games on one blu-ray so it would play on all PS3's.

                  Well thats pretty lame. Oh well.........I am gonna pick up the God Of War collection. I never played these games and the third one looks tits.

                  I also have a $20 gamestop card, so I am trying to figure out what to get with it

                          It really does suck for the majority of us that don't own the original backwards compatible PS3. Even dumber that the ones that aren't play PS1 games but not PS2 ones. I hope those rumors about adding the PS2 playability on the PS3 for all systems turn out to be true...albeit doubtful.

                              Would make sense as it's one of the elite Sony games throughout the years. Even a RE one would be good too even though 1, 2, and 3 are available for download on PSN already.

                                  Why on earth would they patch backwards compatibility when they can make you go out and buy all new copies of their games on BR?

                                          That's what I'm doing today. Beating Metal Gear Solid 2. I always get stuck at certain parts so I think today I'm just going to sit down with the walkthrough.

                                              Really? I haven't looked at that game since I played through it at launch. I remember it looking amazing but that was many moons ago.
