Picked up GTA IV yesterday for $15

Good luck making it through the game. I probably made it through a quarter of the game before I got too frustrated with the pacing. I much prefer the action and hilariousness of Saints Row to GTA.

Though the one good thing about GTA IV is Free Roam. Just run around the city doing your thing and blowing shit up with other people.

It's slow paced but I'm enjoying it so far.

There are some seriously fucked up missions in that game what with the lack of checkpoints. The helicopter mission where you have to fly alongside another helicopter so the dude with you can shoot it down is so fucked.

That's been the issue with GTA from Vice City on. I remember having a bitch of a time in the last mission of Vice City, and I never beat San Andreas because of that stupid final mission. I am amazed that they haven't improved the game as far as saves/checkpoints go.

That was why I liked The Ballad of Gay Tony so much (although I never finished it because I was pretty burned out by then on GTA). They actually have Red Dead checkpoints in it.

Still working through GTA IV slowly. Some areas the story seems to jump ahead REALLY quickly. All of a sudden I snap and decide to kill Vlad. Seemed to come out of nowhere in a way.

Picked up Uncharted 1 and 2 for PS3 over the weekend. My brother kept bugging me to get into it. Not an adventure gamer, but holy fucking shit is that game the tits. I have off christmas week, the wife is working, so I'll be fapping or playing the game...

Another rant from me today about MS and the Xbox.

This really pisses me off and it should piss you off too. I don't know who else has noticed this and I don't know if they are doing this intentionally or not to try to take advantage of unsuspecting customers. If they are then that is downright disgusting.

I've only noticed this recently but what I'm referring to is pre-paid content, mostly from these Season Passes which have become so popular. The first time I noticed it was with the Saints Row 3 season pass. As I had mentioned before there seemed to be a problem when I entered my code provided by THQ. Nothing ever seemed to enter my download queue and when I tried re-entering the code it said that it had been redeemed. When I booted up the game it showed that I had downloaded the pass so I was good. I guess because the file was so small it just downloaded in the blink of an eye.

But this is where the problem comes in. When I went back to the dashboard and found the Saints Row season pass content it still showed 1600 points. I clicked on it and got all the way to the "Confirm this purchase" page and it still showed 1600 points, for something that I already paid for and downloaded!

Why does this "superior" Xbox Live service not have the ability to recognize content that I have already purchased or downloaded? Because the PS3 sure as shit can...

I had the same issue with Gears 3. I bought teh Season Pass, and honestly regret it every day because it seems like they just end up releasing the same content a few weeks later for free. Fucking assholes. But anyway, I bought the season pass FROM THE FUCKING DASHBOARD this time, not using a code. When the first DLC released I go to the dash and find it, and guess what? It still shows that I need to pay for it. Again I'm thinking that maybe once I get to the purchase screen it will change to free. Nope. So luckily I back out. I then pop the Gears disc and and VOILA! The fucking game recognizes that I have the Season Pass and prompts me to download the latest DLC content. So why the fuck doesn't the dash do that?

The latest situation was with the Back to Karkand pack for Battlefield 3 that released yesterday on 360. When it released last week on PS3 my PS3 automatically recognized that I had downloaded the Limited Edition version of EA's online pass for the game so when I checked the PSN store for the content, which was also much easier to find mind you, it was listed as FREE, like it fucking should be! All I had to do was download it. So back to the 360. Not only did it take forever to find the ass on content for one of the biggest games this year, but when I finally did it still showed 1200 MS points. There was also a 2.07GB "update" download available that said you would need to get the latest fixes and to play the Karkand update, but not that it included the Karkand upate. So I downloaded that thinking that maybe after I did the fucking shitbox would recognize that I had the Limited Edition and the price of the Karkand pack would change to FREE. Nope. Still 1200 MS points. But when I boot up the game, like Gears, I get prompted that I have the Karkand pack. Unreal.

Now you know there are thousands of unsuspecting people that will download this shit thinking that when they hit confirm they won't get charged because they already paid for it. If M$ is intentionally doing this bullshit to take advantage of those people then that is some shady ass shit.

I definitely wouldn't put it past them.

And please don't come in here with that bullshit "Well people should know better."

I guess I'm in the minority but, I've never had the issue that you're talking about because I always download DLC through the game that I'm playing on PS3, PC or 360. I never think to even look for it in the dash unless it's a game I buy AFTER the DLC came out like Fallout and I go back to see what DLC I want.

And I would say, bullshit or not, people SHOULD be more careful. If you know you bought something and you try to buy it again, you're a retard. There is plenty of text indicating what you are about to PURCHASE. Also, I would have to go back and check, but after inputting the Catwoman code for Arkham City I downloaded it a second time from the dash and had no prompt to "pay" for it.

All of that said, I refuse to feel sorry for people that don't read shit.

Are you fucking kidding me? It's not uncommon for say, an online order, when it's a deal like B2G1, the free item doesn't become free until you complete your order. This is very similar. Someone pre-pays for something on Live, in all cases I've seen it was related to a Season Pass, and then they expect to download that content from Live Marketplace when it becomes available. They go through, what three steps, expecting it to not charge them and BOOM, double charged for shit you already paid for.

Give me a fucking break. If this wasn't such a big deal, why is it like that in the first place?!? Why on such an inferior service like PSN does it automatically recognized you paid for the shit. I don't have the pop in the game to find out. Noty only was my Karkand DLC free in the PSN store but after buying the Uncharted 3 Season Pass, guess what? All of the DLC magically became FREE in the Store! Amazing! And that is how it should be.

The thing that baffles me the most is this same practice exists with Gears 3, a Microsoft published game. It would be one thing to have games like Saints Row or Battlefield possible having this issue, but a MS exclusive where they control the Season Pass and had the shit plastered all over the dashborad for weeks?

Give me a fucking break dude. You do realize that people like us are in maybe 5% of gamers that are knowledgable enough to know this shit?

I'm convinced that this is just an obvious scam my M$ to rip people off. Are you honestly going to tell me that they don't have measures in place to have it like it is on PSN? I mean, Live is such a superior service and all.

Especially with companies like MS encouraging digital downloads, you're telling me it makes more sense and that everyone should know that they have to actually boot up the game that the DLC is associated with in order to get it? I mean, and I know this is bat shit crazy, but I actually like to play a different game while I'm downloading new DLC for another game. But I guess I can't now.

The bottom line is that there is absolutely no legitimate reason why this shit is like this. None.
