The Arcade Random Thoughts Thread

I'm so glad I rented Skyrim from Redbox and didn't buy into the hype like I did with Oblivion back in the day. It plays exactly like that game, which I pretty much expected. But I expected some differences and it doesn't seem like it at all. I only played for a few hours and I know that isn't squat in a game like that but I can tell it's not a game for me. It was boring me to tears. In an early side mission one of the first guys I meet asks me to craft something for him. I do it and then I can find him anywhere to turn it in. I hate how the enemies just fall limply to the ground. It despise the encumberance. I only picked up a few items and next thing you know I'm overencumbered and moving at a snails pace.

I also preferred to play in the third person perspective which I know most Elder Scrolls fan would chastise me for.

Either way, feel free to flame away but this game is not for me. Back to Red Box so I can hopefully get The Darkness 2.

I gotta finish up the GTAV single player, prob during the week.
Trine 2 needs to be beaten, a couple more sessions with JMS and we should slay that.
The Stanley Parable is waiting for me too.
I keep hoping for a discount on Journey to come, missed the previous opportunities but I wanna knock that out. Probably will cave in this weekend.
Far Cry 3 I've slept on, wanna get that done too. Down to $30 used, but I just feel (since EU gets it) that we're gonna get it on PSN by next spring...so why waste money? Tough call.


Then of course, next gen stuff.

I have enjoyed what I've played of Arkham Origins thus far, but now that I'm on the other side of Dark Souls, I'm having some gaming ADD. I also find myself wanting to go back for NG+ (even though it's evil), and even find a hankering to pop in Demon's Souls again. Those games get such a hold of you if you let them, despite their negative influence on basically everything in your life when you're playing them.

JMS, what the shit!? You haven't finished ME3? What?

Anyway, I'll have plenty to do since I'm not diving into next gen yet. As far as any of that new stuff, ACIV is the one I'm most excited about (even if it's with fingers permanently crossed).

I loved and played the shit out of that on 360. It's so much damn fun, and really does a great job of making you feel like a badass ninja.

Last post: I'm dying to hear impressions from people on Stanley Parable. It was one of the weirdest, most insane, but also good experiences, I've had this year. There is one ending in particular that I have referenced like 5 times now, that was just mind blowing.

So, anyone getting AC4 today? Early reviews seem to be very good. I knew it was coming out soon, but only in the last hour realized that it was Tuesday. I might snag it from Redbox and give it a go over the weekend.

How are Ubi PC ports? Better than they once were? Rayman Origins and Legends are both great, but I remember hearing bad stuff about the AC PC ports. I would consider it for PC, but not until it's on sale.

Splinter Cell was amazing when I finally got it installed. UPLAY is a bitch! I never played any of the AC games on PC.

Ugh, Uplay. Forgot about that part...I dodged that with Origins, but it gummed up everything with Legends.
