I know, but I only spent $15 or so for all three games and the single paid DLC for ME1. Having to spend six times that amount just for DLC seems crazy when just about everything else on PC goes on sale at least once a year.

Time to start my playthrough of Alpha Protocol. I'm excited to finally play this one.

Ok this game is pretty cool so far. I love how you have to pay attention to details. Preparations for missions is pretty fun and of course going at different people in different ways is quite fun. There's obvious things that could be improved upon and things that could be added, but this is a great foundation.

This is the deep dark place where Steam trading cards can take you (via reddit).

He's crafted the holiday sale badge 500 times and (if you check his full profile) has over 700 badges.

There is that, but the theory behind the game and the story is pretty damn good. If you love playing RPGs it is worth giving a go.

Plus, apparently the split second decisions you apparently have to make not only lend importance and tension to the game but seriously effect the story and outcome. There are apparently numerous branching paths, story lines and endings.
I think I need to start up my copy.

You don't need them. The only practical thing badges do is expand your friends list capacity as your Steam level increases, but Steam's default friends list limit is already pretty high to begin with.

What's crazy about the guy that I linked to is that he had to spend a ton of money to buy the cards necessary to craft all of those badges, and I'm sure he isn't the only guy to do such a thing.

Having played it a few times, it's definitely based on what you do.

If you play stealthy or go guns blazing, somebody in-game will mention your methods.

People you meet in one section of the game will talk about others you've talked to previously, maybe even offer a favor if you do them a solid in-trade...

Every layer of the freakin' onion is why I dig the game so much.

Agree on all accounts. Despite the fact that the game still sells copies and is an underground hit, Sega is still not caving on a sequel.

I still remember a preview/review way back when where they mentioned that one of your first targets offers you an option at taking down a major weapons dealer if you let him live, or something like that. And of course depending on what you decide to do it drastically going to effect the story.

That was the first mission I did last night. Loved that it let me do that.

At the very minimum it probably cost him $1.50 for each badge, x500 times. Good lord.
