I love going for some of those, but only in games that I enjoy.

There was a video way back when on the Escapist that broke down achievements basically how I feel about them. I can't remember who did it though.

Basically the concept was that achievements existed in 3 types: 1) the story driven; 2) the insane; and 3) the inspired.

1 was as described where you get achievements as you progress through the game, which they (and I) think is retarded because PROGRESSION through the game should be the achievement. 2 represents though crazy achievements in some games like "finish the game without dying on hard without blinking while walking backwards" for, well, insane people. And 3, is my favorite, the achievements like in Half Life 2 Episode 2 where you get an achievement for bringing a garden gnome with you through the entire game. Tough, possible, and pushing the reason why you play the game into new directions.

But yeah, I don't understand playing a game JUST for the achievements either.

Borderlands 2 - day one for sure, just misses Q4
Black Ops 2 - not really interested
RE6 - wait and see
Assassin's Creed 3 - haven't played any of the other games outside of the Brotherhood beta (i.e. not really interested)
Halo 4 - no 360
Hitman - not really interested

I'm really just curious to see what Sony has in store for the Vita. MS is going to be more Kinect bullshit. Nintendo will be all Wii U, which doesn't excite me at all. And Sony will probably announce games that have been rumored for a while, unless somehow Agent actually gets shown. LOL.

The Vita perplexes me. What is the point of it outside of Japan?

The Kinect is bullshit. It's bullshit to take away from hardcore gaming. It is bullshit in how much in costs and its bullshit it doesn't read me.
