I have the Bulls entering 2010-11.
I had a poor 2009-10 season.
I took Kurt Thomas and a 1st (pick 19) for Tyrus Thomas (Thomas retired, so it was a salary dump in Tyrus + a first round pick).
I declined Glen Davis and 1st for Joakim Noah (duh).
I took Boris Diaw and a 1st for Kirk Hinrich.
I also made a minor trade to acquire an extra second round pick. That gave me 5 picks in the 2010 NBA Draft. I didn't resign any of the talent that came off the books. Aaron Gray, Lindsey Hunter, Jerome James, etc...all free up quite a bit of money.
In the 2010 NBA Draft, I took:
4th: Xavier Henry (SG Kansas)
18th: Damion James (SF Texas)
19th: Craig Brackens (PF Iowa State)
30th: Dexter Pittman (C Texas)
45th: Trevor Booker (PF Clemson)
I feel that I had a productive draft. Henry was a duh pick (Wall, Favors, and Aldridge went 1-3).
I signed Derrick Fisher to back up Derrick Rose in free agency. I sent Taj Gibson and James Johnson to the D-League (neither progressed a bit in the 2010 season). This leaves me with this rotation. This is where you come in:
PG: Rose, Fisher
SG: Henry, Salmons
SF: Deng, James
PF: Diaw, Brackens, Booker
C: Noah, Pittman
Everyone in the free agent market accepted Player Options, so 2011 looks to be a big free agent market. I didn't spend a lot this off-season, since I didn't expect to win now.
To keep you updated. Noah & Salmons comes off the books after this season. This frees up quite a bit of cash to sign a big name C, SG, or SF.
I'm obviously thin at PG. I have 15 million free under the cap, with Noah and Salmons money coming off at the end of this season.
Do I put Deng's contract on the block for picks? Do I trade him for a backup PG in Rose? Do you think Xavier Henry or James are ready for big playing time?
What direction do I go? I'm not sure why I went so forward heavy in the draft. Booker was heavily scouted, and appeared to be a diamond in the late second round....
But what would you do?
BTW: This is a duplicate post from in the Association section. I wasn't aware I was in the wrong section.
