XBox 360 - maybe video card related?

Having issues lately with the 360.

My XBox is connected with the Component HD cables, HD setting...my picture starts getting odd...like, the definition is shot and things are overly pixelated. System is also slower.

So, I went internet'n and saw a possible remedy for it was to overheat the motherfucker, towel style to fix the issue. Did it, worked like a charm for like...a week. Then, it happened again.

Now, can't get that motherfucker to overheat again.

What the dilly VSN, what can I do? I am sure I'm out of a warrenty.

From my experience on reading about this kind of stuff it will probably RROD soon, so be prepared for that

Other than that I have nothing to offer

same thing just happened to me about 2 weeks ago. i had a purpleish looking pic that would come and go, but when it wasnt a purple fuzzy screen, i had this discolored trippy look to the pic. Over pixelated too.

i wasnt getting RROD and the towel trick wouldnt work for more than 30 mins. I had to get a new one. I was lucky enough to snag a Jasper model of the arcade version.

sorry for your loss....if you do get a new one check this link...i also got $40 in trade for my dead 360 at gamestop...yes they knew it was dead

all you really need to see on the cutout of the box is this
      12.1A

My old xbox did that once it started to get older. I only managed to get a few days out of it before it RROD'd but mine was magically somehow still under warranty.

If your out of warranty that means its getting pretty old. Probably time to go hunting for a new one.

        Leafs offseason training!

You traded your dead 360 in for 40 bucks? Damn. Wish I would of known that. My dead one is sittin in the closet. Just bought the MW2 Elite and a regular Elite last month. Tired of the wife playing mine, so she got her own lol.

It sounds like your wife and mine are very much alike.

What kind of condition are the refurbished XBox's from Gamestop like?

I was thinking of pulling a switcheroo, trade mine if, get the credit, then drop $100 on a refurbed XBox.

Or, just go in with $150 and get a new one completely.

With that said, are the new ones prone to the same problems?

Just an update...I know no one cares, but alas...

I just traded mine in to Gamestop...they gave me $100.00 for the XBox, minus $20 for a refurb fee (I toweled and RHMOD'd it and let it cool down, so when the guy turned it on the first time, it looked crystal clear for the few moments he had it on). So $80 in total for the XBox, plus whatever little fees for the other junk that I had with it, plus $30 for Madden, I ended up having to pay $30 for the switcheroo...I won't hate on that. Also spent $20 on the warranty for a full year...eh...considering I use the XBox all of the time for not only gaming, but Netflix, etc...needed the quick switch.
