    PS3 Voice Chat Question

New to the Ps3 so I'm trying to figure everything out.

Is there voice chat on the Ps3 with friends, outside of the same game, within a different game? Are their party chats?

Just curious, because on XBOX live when my buddies where in the middle of a game we could voice chat, even though we weren't in the same game.

Can;t figure it out on the Ps3. Or is it only within the same game, or if you are both outside of the game in the ps3 menu screen.

    Thanks in advance!

Theres chatrooms to Voice and Video Chat. If your on different games you can't Voice Chat. Text Chat was added a little while ago tho so you can do that while playing different games.

Nope. This is the key reason why XBL is superior to PSN or thats the argument anyway.

Until PSN implements this (which they probably won't) they will continue to fall behind.

EA got flamed hardcore when that little rumor started floating around from a reliable source that was leaking a ton of info from inside Sony. I'm assuming he got caught and fired because we haven't heard from him in a long time

Yes, our online experience is so lame without party chat, such an inferior console :doorrofl:

Thanks for clearing that up guys, I thought I was going crazy not being able to figure it out.

I guess the key point is,,,why? Why don't they have this?

Is it hard to implement with costs or something? I mean the whole gaming experience is better IMO on the Ps3 comapred to all the gaming I've done on a 360.

So why doesn't PS3 include this, it seems so minor, yet it's very annoying not having it, that the PS3 should just add it.

Guess I just took it for granted on the 360.

                a simple message doesn't suffice?

People don't talk enough on PS3 even when they are playing the same game for this to be an issue.

my limited experiences with the ps3 chat has been pretty bad. peoples headsets usually suck and you cant hear them properly or it just sounds bad. the psn is not really pushing people towards a community of gamers which is why you see so many people not using headsets.

Yeah, but I only hop online when my buddies are on. And if they are in the middle of a game or playing something different, it's easy to just say what's up or tell them something quick, instead of calling them. I only game with my friends and work colleagues, so if they are on it's easier to catch up with them on there.

I don;t play random people online, and if I am online playing random call of duty I'm sure as hell not using my headset.

But it does come in handy if I just want to talk with my buddies within the game in a party and not everyone else say like in Call of Duty.
