I see your point, but I still don't buy the whole "we don't want parents to think their kids are playing on the same console that the army trains on..."

Well regardless they do play on the same console as the Army want[ed] to train on, and even more they fail as parents for letting their kids buy mature rated games and don't know there is violence in them. (but not surprising considering they invested their money in a 360)

I would say this right there
        - If the Xbox became an Army training device, it could taint its reputation. Microsoft was concerned that "do we want the Xbox 360 to be seen as having the flavor of a weapon? Do we want Mom and Dad knowing that their kid is buying the same game console as the military trains the SEALs and Rangers on?

Some parents and people in general are very retarded and im pretty sure that could happen however the chances of that were probably slim.

overall I agree with the article that it was a stupid decision to pass on that deal.

Why would this even be a fanboy issue the fact that the army chose 360 over the ps3 speaks volumes while also Microsoft turning them down poses lots of questions either way I dont see the fuss all mmbeer comes out looking like is one of the fanboys on the Sony side
So with that reasoning, its still ok to have GTA on the console?

To me its not a fanboy thing that Army picked the 360. My issue is Microsoft claimed, that they would lose out on game revenue and parents opinions. I mean really? They got games like ME showing sexual situations and GTA with gratuitous violence, but they won't show concern for parents' opinions on those.

I agree with the article, whoever at Microsoft made this decision was either overly zealous or IMHO worried about all those 360s failing and that being the story in the news.

I just added the fanboy thing in there for satire.

I dont think Microsoft wants their console to be a tool used to teach men how to prepare for war. Which I can understand. We already have politicians trying to blame the consoles for violence and the reason behind all juvenile crime.

doesn't microsoft have a specific division to deal with the military, odds are they are just going to get a diffrent microsoft product tailor made for them, rather than the same one the public has...

lol @ this thread. No one has a clue about anything here.

                Just some plain truths.

The PS3 is better for what they are using it for. I can see why they asked microsoft first but I'm betting the open source option of the PS3 is probably better.

Microsoft "could of" lost money on the deal.

I'm almost ready to go back a full fledge PC snob. You console guys are fuckin idiots.

The whole reason they went to Microsoft in the first place was because they were tired of paying out of the ass for new pc hardware that could run the latest games and I don't blame them pc gaming died years ago

And don't even mention WoW, those faggots might as well be on another planet, they are not normal.

                        What fact?

That I agree paying for high priced computer equipment is a dumb idea when you can get a PS3 to do the same thing for a lot cheaper? Considering I've already been a part of a project that did this (we ran a PS3 using linux to run some fairly 3d intensive simulations) and found the results to be quite nice and better over the conventional high priced PCs where running something like a Dual Quattro video card setup will run you close to $2k on the cards alone.

Or the fact that for the last 2 years at least I've said repeatitly to people looking for advice on games that are only available on PC/Xbox 360 that buying an Xbox is a cheaper and most of the time better solution then to try and upgrade the pc? See the countless "I want to play Mass Effect 2 but only have a PS3" threads where I generally said get an xbox.

Or you just trying to bait me into a PC vs Console thing for some reason.... Keep reachin though. You'll get there one day.
