What makes The Show so special?

I just got my PS3 so I've never played a "show" game, but the anticipation on this site is insane. I've never seen this type of hype for a sports game, Madden doesn't compare. I've seen tons of people here salivating for the game, my question to you guys is, what makes the series so special?

Realism - The Show is the closest game to capture the real game than any other sports videogame.

This is no lie or exaggeration - I can't remember anyone who ever played The Show who didn't love it.
If you're a 360 convert (and don't get this wrong, I have a 360 too), you are in for a treat. The Show destroys 2k baseball in every way possible.
Hell, one nice touch, you can use your own music. My 09 Show soundtrack was music I liked, not crap decided for me.
And you will never hear play-by-play and colour commentary better than The Show's.

And I am not a big hype guy. Hell, I was invited to the Madden community event last year and didn't come out of it singing the game's praises (though the developers were really nice guys).

Words cannot even describe the awesomness that is The Show. You'll have to experience for it yourself and you'll find out immediately why it is so special.

              You're better than that.
"Awesomeness" is something I'd expect from a 9-year-old.
Give him something better than that.

Will it capture the attention of a casual baseball fan? I watch a bit of regular season baseball, and the playoffs and I generally like it. I used to be a huge MLB gamer, All Star Baseball and MVP Baseball were my shit, MLB 2K6 and 2K7 were solid too, but those were the last baseball games I played.

I am not a franchise guy. 99% of my games are just "play now" affairs. Seriously.

I like to use a ton of different teams and see different parks (I always like my first game to be at Kaufmann).

Yes, it will capture the "casual" fan.

anyone who hasnt played should expect nothing less then to be blown away. The best sports game period. arguably one of the best games of all time.

when playing, u feel like your at a real ballpark watching a real game

It's an addicting game. I can find myself playing my RTTS for hours on end and wondering where the time went.

this time last year I was the OP

this time this year I'm the same as everyone else in the thread.

this isn't madden, the modes that are in the game work as they tell you they work, they are as fun as they tell you they are, etc.

these guys don't lie or stretch out truths like EA.

One example of how good the show franchise is: When my 360 broke in November for the third time and I decided to scrap all my 360 stuff and start fresh with a PS3, my first game and the only game I had for over 2 months was MLB 09 The Show. This was in November, after baseball season was over, and I was blown away. Best sports game ever made, hands down. I'm so happy I have a PS3 going into baseball season now rather than a 360. I didn't realize how bad 2k was until I played MLB 09 The Show at a kiosk last summer.
