PSN status update: We're narrowing down the issue and continue to work to restore service to all. Updates as soon as we have them.

PSN status update (part 2): Readers/followers are confirming that "slim" units (120/250 GB models) are connecting normally.

          Entire Playstation universe CRASHES WORLDWIDE!

This is just freaky stuff going on right now. Playstation Network has crashed worldwide, affecting more than just connecting online however, you also cannot even play some games offline and if you try some people are having their trophy's deleted. Playstation 3s are showing the date time as Dec 31st-January 5th of various years (even as far back as 1999) instead of showing the correct date and even the Playstation website is gone. It's as if Playstation never existed...luckily the twitter account for playstation is still up and they have acknowledged this issue and say they are working on it but this is just weird. Never seen anything like this.

EDIT: Looks like some progress is being made, the website is back up.
          Who else is being effected?

I literally haven't touched my PS3 in 2+ weeks, why does this have to happen 24 hours before I get The Show.

no, it doesnt happen all at once where Sony could fix it, instead, Microsoft individually attacks each of you without trying to help or prevent the problem.
