    Help with the show

So long time 2K player, this is my first show game. It seems as if the AI pitching is way more advanced, they throw more balls and vary their pitches much more. Right now I'm getting about 2-3 runs a game on 5-6 hits. Mostly singles and a solo home run a game. I miss swinging a lot and get a ton of strike outs. Is plate discipline that important in this game? In 2K I swung at every pitch and had offensive success...I guess thats why 2k sucks. It's either my swing timing or the fact that I'm swinging at balls, thoughts?

With The Show, you have to be patient, work the count, stay away from off-speed pitches.
    It's not arcade baseball.
Swinging at first pitches usually a recipe for disaster in The Show, like real baseball.

Again, wait for quality pitches. Swinging at off-speed pitches pointless.

Yeah, it's going to be a big adjustment for me. I'm used to 12-9 final scores every game and sometimes 3-4 HR's with one player. So far my high for pitches taken is about 10...it's just tough to go against instinct. Next game I'm going to aim for 15 balls for the opposing pitcher, and just work my way up from there.

You can make The Show arcade baseball with some setting changes, if that's what you want.

Eh, I'd rather not. I might tinker with the settings a bit, but if I plan on taking my game online I need to have my sim baseball game down.

but take your time, be patient. Try not to swing at balls

Patience...work the counts. Take some batting practice. You will get the hang of it.

Go to the Batting Practice mode!

Honestly, take the first TEN pitches (at least - strikes or balls) before swinging at anything. Just get in the habit of NOT swinging at pitches. It helps. It's hard to do, but it will help.

Plus, if you have added some of your own music, it plays very nicely during Batting Practice mode!

                Good luck!!

My first year with the show as well, and it's a big adjustment for all us former 2K players. But so much more gratifying. Played a game on All Star Level yesterday, I was the Phils vs the Marlins, and I had Anibal Snachez up to 100 pitches by the 7th. Just mind blowing if you've been a 2K guy. Best sports game I've ever played. Period.

If you are really struggling....move the sliders to the right....such as timing and solid hit...they give you a bigger window to swing and make contact.

I guess I gotta get myself into the batting practice mode. This is the first time playing a baseball game since....

well shit you have the same problem as me, although in two-three days I've got significantly better. I've been just playing through a chise to get tons of practice. Also, push in L3 and it will tell you if you swung to early, if you made the right contact, etc. It has helped me realize what I'm doing wrong. Its so hard not to swing, especially with runners in scoring position I end up hacking bad lol

Last year I'd go into the batting cage and hit 20 pitches before a league game, works well
