    PS3 Slim VS. PS3 60GB Fat

I have a PS3 60 GB (upgraded the hard drive to 250 GB). Gamers in Ames, IA told me that they would swap me a brand new PS3 slim (not sure which hard drive size) and give me $20 for my PS3 (doubt this would include a warranty). Game Stop told me that I would have to pay them roughly $100.

So, besides the Slim not having backwards compatibility, what would I be missing out on IF I went with a slim? If I put my hard drive in the new PS3 would all my saves/trophies be transferred?

A few month back I played FarCry 2 and went into the map editor mode. I loaded that map with a shit load of exploding crap. Needles to say, as the shit started to blowup my framerate took a hit, frooze up, and then my PS3 shut itself off. Ever since that game, I have had problems with framerate, freezing and rebooting with every single game I own.

Yes, after that issue with FarCry I never tried to play it again, I traded that bitch in lmao. I NEVER had any problems before FarCry.

    Thanks!!

Aside from the occassional hiccup with the older systems not being able to handle any of the newer updates that are targeted more towards the Slims, there's no real need to switch to the newer console.

As for the saves, I would say that it would carry over to your new system.

If not, just port the old stuff to the new system via USB cable or USB stick.

I would jump on it, yours is liable to give out anytime and a straight up trade with cash to boot is a better deal than you are going to get anywhere else

He is right. It would cost you $150 to get it fixed. I had to do it once already. If it dies again I am gonna pay the money again and then sell it so I can get a slim. These 60GB PS3's are like collector's items

Yea, Id love to have one just for backwards compatability but it would just set on the shelf like mine does now

I'm not sure if I would miss the backwards compatibility (I have used the backwards compatibility a handful of times for Gran Turismo). I wouldn't even be considering this trade if my PS3 was working as it should be lmao. Fuck you FarCry lol.

The only PS2 games that work on all PS3 is Singstar (all PS2 versions).

When you see people posting about their PS3's breaking, 99% of the time it seems they own a 60GB version...food for thought

I'd be all over that deal. I sold my 60GB launch PS3 back in December with 2 old controllers and had enough to cover everything but the tax on a 250GB slim and 2 dual shock controllers. It sold within a few hours of going on Craigslist.

I still have a PS2 that runs like a tank (use it in den for kids to play with) if I really had to play something on the PS2 so backwards compatibility wasn't a value add for me.

Loaded up all of my saves on a USB stick and went to the Playstation store and downloaded all of the content I had purchased in the past. Took less than an hour and I was up and running just like it was the same console.
