    I need serious help with 2K10

    So I bought this game for my buddy and I when it was on sale for $20. I haven't played a b-ball game in a few years and the last one I played was a 2K game. I couldn't really get into it because it seemed overly difficult. I wanted to actually get this years Live because it seemed up my alley. It seemed more accessible and a tad more on the arcade side. The problem is that I'm not spending $40 on a game that I probably won't play much anyway.

    So my buddy cracked his open the other day. He just got a new PS3 a few weeks ago and he hasn't played a b-ball game in quite some time. He's a solid gamer though and picks up games really fast. He 100% RDD and finished GoW3 in a few days. He immediately starts calling me after a few days telling me how much he hates the game because it's so difficult. I brush him off and tell him to "keep practicing" and maybe bump down the difficulty. He also tells me that there are about 100 different player icons during the game and he has no idea what they mean because the game never tells you and there is nothing in the instruction manual.

    I finally fired up my copy and all I can say id WHAT TH FUCK?!? Fuck this game. I'm playing on Pro and getting my ass kicked 16-0. I can't even make a fucking layup. Every one of my shots misses and the CPU makes every one of theirs...ON PRO! And my buddy is right, what the FUCK do all of these icons mean? I see blue arrows pointing, status bars like a cell phone...

    Arggghhhhhh!

        And that is exactly why I should've followed my instincts and NOT bought this game. For one, I hate using the shot stick. I like using the old school controls and this game basically forces you to use the stick for everything. And look at all that shit. I feel like I'm playing a fighting game (which I HATE) trying to remember all of those button combinations.

          You don't have to use the shot stick if you don't want.

              Oh, I know. But the problem is that not only do a majority of your shots get affected or blocked in the paint if you don't use the stick but it seems you miss a majority of your shots if you use the buttons.

                twigg what i would recommend for you and your friend is sit down on the toilet sometime and read the manual a lil it has pretty good info on some of the stuff that is essential to playing the game

                next there is a practice mode in the game go to that and read the tutorial and mimic everything until you get it

                after this depending on whether or not you want to implement post moves into your game go to the post move tutorial and finish up on that after all that your going to want to go to practice mode again and get your timing right on the releases of all the players

                all this will probably take 1hr if you have played a bball game before 2-3 hours tops if the controls just seem to foreign
                ----------------------------------------------
                on the icons ill help you with the basic ones you need to know

                gatorade = tired
                star = 90+

                after that nothing really matters
                RIP

                  Thanks for the tips. I checked the manual but, like I said, all the controls reminded me of trying to memorize moves in Mortal Kombat or something.

                  I wasn't aware of Practice Mode because I didn't see it on the menu. Typical 2K and their convoluted menu screens.

                  What about those blue arrows? And the white circles that appear at the feet of a player (not the one you're controlling)?

                    yeah the practice screen is in the game modes menu as well as the post moves practice mode I was talking about as well as the plays tutorial mode

                    the blue arrows Im not quite sure but I think is if you have player objectives on it tells you where the player you have to guard is the white circle I have no idea about
