New Madden 11 "Madden to the people" ad

Pretty cool ad, not saying they will deliver on gameplay or anything but I like the commercial.

Madden either needs more players to show up, play and complain OR have a wider audience.

As of now, Madden's pretty much the only universal game that's out there that anyone can pick up and play, IMO.

It's not an RPG where you have to grind for hundreds of hours to get a sword you won't even use; It isn't a mindless shooter with which you drone through the same maps and pray that the guy you're playing with doesn't glitch under the map this time...

Madden's never going back to the way we "remember" it and either we play along, complain some more or stop buying it and let the new generation of players take our place.

I don't think you could be more wrong JayDizzle. Madden isn't a game you're gonna pick up and automatically be good at. They are just gonna have to realize this. It has taken years and countless hours for me to know what works and what doesnt, what plays to call in situations, understand where to bring pressure from, get my stick skill up, etc... Because of this it is hard to find a "good" madden player in person. And if you're getting rocked at a game -- you're not gonna wanna play it.

Not that you've read what I've posted or anything but I didn't say you had to be "good" to play Madden.

You ask any gamer/girlfriend/roommate familiar with football gaming and they'll automatically know what you're talking about when you bring up Madden.

You pick up a copy for many reasons... to get good at it like you've brought up, to play your friends or to say that you got it that year.

But you get it because it's a brand.

Like a pack of smokes, like a case of beer... because of the name and what it represents.

                    Sincerely yours,

                    Everyone who's ever played Madden.
It expires in 2012, but will probably be renewed again. It's really the NFL's fault that the exclusive license was made. They were shopping an exclusivity deal with several other companies and they decided that EA could do best job with the license based on their successful history with the Madden franchise.

                      What he said...

The exclusive licence is on the NFL, not EA.

For the last time. After the patches last year Maddens Gameplay was excellent.

My only fear is them trying to fix the parts of gameplay that were OK and tweaking shit that doesnt need to be fixed, then letting the few things that do go untouched.

It expires in 2012. If EA is going to renew again, we'll most likely hear about it by next season. I doubt EA will waste any time in renewing.

Of course I read it and you said it's a universal game then go on to talk about gameplay of an rpg. How would i know you aren't referring to maddens gameplay?

Yeah it's a brand but there are no competitors so it's hard to say people just buy it because it's madden. You don't see average gamers picking up Madden. For instance, I hate watching soccer but FIFA 10 is a rape game that i have lost countless hours of my life playing. Madden wants to be that FIFA 10 that's why they are trying to appeal to a larger audience.

I'm not going to even get started on the game though.
