kind of tying into what kg said there....i mean it is what it is and if you know that in advance then you can not complain that they made a game like this.
I guess to answer the then what question would be.....if i want to see a great story i will rent a movie. i dont play video games for the story, i play them for the gaming aspect. I do like a story that guides the gameplay and gives you a reason for what your doing. But a game like this would only be a rental for most people
im curious to see how this game sells.
Really? You don't play games for the story? That's... odd to me. Like, a game without gameplay is shit, but I can't imagine not even caring about the storyline. lol. That's like a Michael Bay film.
I forgot to post this earlier but you can skip cut scenes by pressing start. A window will come up and tell you what button to press to skip it, I can't remember off the top of my head.

lol....michael bay
the stories in most games are not that good. only a few good ones come to mind like UC2, dragon ages and mass effect. But while those had large stories, they also had even larger amounts of gameplay
stories are good if they are told properly. Cut scenes that take over half the games playable time are not worth playing cause u dont play, u watch

Game designers should work on storytelling, then, so that games have stories worth playing and, in some cases, just watching.
Just about done, appears its more like a 10 hour play through. I'm on Chapter 14 (of 15), 14 was a complete HOLY SHIT moment if you've played the first one, loved that moment.
To explain to those that didn't play the first one and probably won't...
the opening scene in chapter 14, where you gun down Tommy on his front lawn? That's the ending of Mafia 1, you are Tommy in that game and it's the EXACT same scene. Pretty neat how they tied that in.
I'm pissed as fuck tho, I got ONE last thing to do before the conclusion of the game plays out, but it is one fucking retarded ass thing to do.
anyone who beat the game got any tips on how to get 27K fast? I'm gonna have to rob 35 gun shops to get that kind of money. fuck this.
I originally was dead set on teh PS3 version because of the extra content, but that extra content is a code (dumb) that would probably only work with new copies. I plan on getting it used form GS.com's pre-order deal.
So should I go with the ps3 version and possibly, but not likely, get a code that works with the extra missions? Or the 260 version with better textures and less hiccups? It would only be $25.
I just ordered the 360 CE for $35 from Amazon. I was thinking of getting the two DLC packs that are on sale this week as well. Does anyone have any insight on those? I figure it's hard to go wrong for $5 each.
i stayed away from it. all i kept hearing in almost every review. drive to this mission, finish, drive home. drive to the next mission, finish, drive home. no roaming, no side missions. i have it on my gamefly q, i will get it eventually.

Yeah, pretty much. Although the story is supposed to be pretty good and, strangely enough, the DLC is supposed to let you roam a bit.
