    post patch impressions

i only played 1 so far. Game 1 of season 3 in my OD OSU at USC. the game was very good. more defensive than i am used to seeing. 21-17 and was down 17-14 with 330 to go and i drove down for a td with 16 seconds left.

passing - pryor is gone but my new starter isnt bad.
    he was 16-27 for 166, 1 TD, 0 INT, 2 sacks
it did seem like the cpu didnt blitz like i normally see

USC freshman QB seemed to acurate. he was 13-16 at 1 point but finished
    13-21, 269 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT, 1 sack
guys were open and he was on target, but 61% isnt anything to complain about for the game.

Rushing - it was a challenge to run the ball compared to what i have seen. the CPU angles and pursuit made it real tough to get anything going. I was 33-133, and i have a very good line and 2 excellent HB's....no complaints really, it was just more of a challenge especially cause my team plan for the year is to run the ball and i thought i would have done better. kudos to the cpu for making solid tackles and swarming to the ball.

For the CPU it was not a good day. they were just 19 for 33 yards. Not good. for the past 2 seasons when the CPU tries to run ball control like USC did in this game, i would normally give up 130 yards or more. idk how their line and HB is rated, but the final numbers were disappointing for sure.

Catching - my guys seemed to drop alot more than 2 passes where the CPU seemed to catch anything, but ended up with 3 drops.

pass rush - this seemed harder for me. i couldnt really generate the same rush i am used to seeing. The CPU didnt seem to be giving to much pressure to me except when i couldnt find open WR...

kicking - was fine for me, but the cpu missed 3 FG from 40-49 range. They had the leg just not the accuracy.

Penalties - seemed to be tweaked. i saw more variety. Offsides on the cpu, false starts, facemask, and holding. each team was 4-40 yards

Overall the game played alot better. i never felt cheated. i cant really pin point any slider changes except to help the cpu rushing game which was really the only let down. maybe make that better and tone down the passing game for them

i am not counting this game so i can run it against them again....see if i can tweak it a bit

just looked at USC players and the QB is 83 overall, 89 power, 79 accuracy
HB is 84 overall, 86 speed...their OLine is 83 overall on average

maybe their rushing was on par....passing was probably not

oh and their kicker has 99 power, 73 accuracy....seems his 1-4 day was correct too

wow, this patch really fucked up the gameplay. played 2 more times OSU at USC. scores were close but the cpu cant run the ball for shit. neither team could run the ball outside. I have my rush dee at 25 and run blocking for cpu at 85 (up from 80) and they couldnt run at all.

in the 2nd game i moved cpu pass acc down to 30 from 35 and they went 5 -13. i moved it back to 35 for game 3 and the cpu had 2 incompletions.

i dont really feel like fucking around with sliders again to make this game fun to play

Makes me sick how badly they've managed to fuck up these games.

I'll say it again, patches are the worst thing to happen to sports games. It allows these devs to be lazy and release a shit, incomplete product. We essentially pay $60 for beta copies, and they spend all year "fixing" it.

These games had flaws in the PS2 days, but NEVER to the extent that they do on next gen with patches. The games were always playable, at minimum. It really does make me sick. football gaming was a great hobby at one point, but now it's non existant.

I agree only because these game devs end up using the gamers as "testers." EA doesn't have to test the games themselves knowing there's several communities of gamers that will test it for them. Then they can just swoop in and patch it and people will kiss their feet even though a lot of these glitches/bugs are so obvious they should never make into the game.

I think patches are good for games, EA just uses them for the wrong reasons.

and those communities think they are special, like they are the chosen ones when really they are saving EA money by letting them be the testers.

it doesnt seem like anyone is really working on slider changes. The CPU run game is the biggest concern for me. with human rush dee at 25 and cpu blocking at 85, my DL was able to easily break blocks and nail the back at the line of scrimmage. Combine the newly improved pursuit angles to the ball and now you have swarming DB's and LB's. So even if the HB got blocking to get by my DL he was quickly gobbled up by the next level of defenders.

what worries me is that i feel like i will have to goto 0 rush dee and 100 blocking and if that doesnt work i dont have anywhere else to go

they fucked this game up. cpu running is whacked now. watch the replays. every time when the QB hands the ball to the HB the DLine breaks their block and goes directly to the ball.

this is with hum rush dee at 0 - cpu rush block at 100, and cpu RB ability at 60

i swear this game makes no sense. i just played on heismen, 8 min Q, Default sliders.
#1 greatest game...score 4084. I have never scored even close to that high

The CPU ran much better, but still not as good as i would like. Pass rush was a bit strong for the CPU and a bit weak for me.
Passing wasnt bad, i was 66%, CPU 70%. A bit higher than i would like.

I was up 24-10 starting the 4th. USC scored 3 TD's to take the lead 31-24. I got the ball with 19 seconds and hit on a 56 yard bomb to their 3 with 2 seconds left. I got the TD off a slant pass. The bomb i got was an awesome play because they had man across the board against 5 wide. It was an honest streak pattern, but my guy just beat the DB off the line and i hit him in stride.....i ended up winning in OT on a FG

i guess i am gonna start a new offline chise on heismen with coaching slider changes to tone down blitzing. If the cpu didnt blitz so much they wouldnt get burned like they did on my 1st TD. 4 wide and they use engage 8...fucking idiots.

You can never judge sliders/patches by one game.

very true. But i played 5 post patch games on AA and the cpu cant run the ball. with the sliders at rush dee 0 and run block 100 they couldnt do anything. i mean 1.5 ypc is a joke. I didnt have anywhere else to go with the sliders so heismen is the only option.

plus i am alot better now. after 2 seasons and going 26-0 its time for a new challenge. As long as i dont feel cheated i am fine

I don't know why but this pump fake glitch is hilarious to me. I been using it on random unsuspecting people online. Not off the bat just out of the blue. I figure the more people that get pissed about it the faster EA has to fix it.

Its sad when sliders and patches can't even affect a positive change. I still think NCAA 2007 for PS2 is the most workable NCAA game thats been put out.

the patch did fix alot of things. actually everything was for the better and sliders work fine for them. All except the running game. Its like they over tuned it now so that when the ball is handed off the defense is drawn right to the ball. Its great to see the defense use correct pursuit angles, but the players shouldnt just break their blocks as soon as its handed off.

is anyone else seeing that? i watch countless replays and saw 3 of my 4 DL break their blocks at the exact time the ball was handed off

                              Agreed.

                              08 saw a noticable decline, 09 & 10 were trash.

11 feels completely half assed. Because it is. Forget the sloppy gameplay, even the bells & whistles are watered down. Stat overlays are virtually non existant. Injury notification is horrendous. The ESPN intergration added nothing, and was done much better on the superior NCAA Basketball that unfortunately nobody buys and has been discontinued. They did a much better job making it feel like an actual tv broadcast last gen. But casual gamers want faster gameplay, so it is what it is. You see this reflected in Madden this year, too
