Japan Sold Out of Street Fighter IV — 86,000 Copies Sold!

If anyone ever thought that Street Fighter was dead or the forth installment would not sell well in Japan they were, errr well… - dead wrong. According to some of the first day sales numbers, 86,000 copies of Street Fighter IV were sold for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in the ‘Land of the Rising Sun.’

Apparently Capcom didn’t expect to see these numbers, especially since everyone has been affected by these economic times. A community manager for the publisher said the company was “overwhelmed by demand”, and that the entire county of japan is completely sold out of the fighter.

Could this be a sure sign that the new Street Fighter movie will become the largest grossing film in Japan? No, we didn’t think so either. But it is definitely good to know that the Street Fighter series is on pace to be around for a lot longer than some people originally thought.
