[360] Halo Reach on sale on XBOX Marketplace

Halo: Reach Listed On Xbox.com For 99999 MSP
Written Tuesday, August 17, 2010 By Richard Walker

It might look like someone at Microsoft has made a big mistake and posted Halo: Reach onto Xbox.com for download a month prior to the game's retail release, but apparently it's supposed to be there, with MS confirming that it isn't an error.

And with an exorbitant price tag of 99999 Microsoft Points - or roughly £857 - the 7GB download may seem a tempting proposition for rich kids looking to get their Halo on a month early, but you can't purchase the game even if you have the funds, as download requires a "25-character pre-paid token" according to the MS Support site.

This isn't a hint that Reach will be a Games on Demand title either, as it's likely just a way to give journalists quick access to the game by sending out a token for download and review in the run up to Halo: Reach's release on September 14th, 2010.

Still, it looked pretty exciting for a second, even if there's no way in hell we'd pay £850 to play Halo: Reach, no matter how good it might be.
It's on sale for 99,999 Microsoft Points. If I calculated it correctly, that is around $79k.

    Crazy lol

Lol is it? I divided 99,999 by 1.25. Oh wait, $1.25 is 100 microsoft points. I thought it was for 1 point -__- wow, fail.

It said it's only redeemable with a 25 digit token.

I give it 2 days before it ends up on Piratebay.

Someones going to figure out a way to either get their hands on, or bypass, a 25 number code.

Find in-depth gaming news and hands-on reviews of the latest video games, video consoles and accessories.

There have been articles about this all over the interwebs. Apparently it's just the review build for the gaming journalists out there. It probably never should've been listed in the marketplace because it makes no sense. I think they are given codes to download and play it even though the final version will not be downloadable. The whole situation is one big fail on MS's part.

He's a known PS3 troll though, so he could just be messing around, but on the same token he usually reports stuff like this before anyone else
