I've gotten pretty far in this game, here some tidbits.

    - Graphics are Halo 1 level. Some of the scenery is good, but for the most part it is very griddy. The rag doll effects are fine, however the hair and clothes (or lack there of ) look really poor.

    - Game play is fun. As a person who has played the original Duke Nukems, I must say I'm enjoying every bit of this game. The commentary is hilarious, the little tidbits they've added are superb.

    - The controls for the most part are good. when you are controlling the monster truck it can get a bit finnecky*.

Overall I love the game, I'm a game play 1st/ graphics 2nd guy. Where the graphics fall short (and ooooooh do they), the game play lifts it back up. When I finish the game though, I'll give my final thoughts.

Beat the game last night. Just wanted to add a few things to my previous list.

      - Loading Times.... OMFG... This game has probably the worst and most notable loading screens I've ever seen. No Lie. At times I got off on a tangent and started surfing the web to eat up the time it takes for the next chapter to load.

      - Story Line/Ending. Very decent ending, climax was ok. Although it did feel like I was fighting just another average boss (like the first couple you fight). I won't say that the fight was easy, because I had to do it 4-5 times to get past it. I will compliment the game on it's looooooong storyline. I felt like it was never going to end.

Overall not a bad game, I'd give it a 6.5/10

I have a feeling they will release a sequel and it will be better (graphically). However, the sales may dip, because people will still have this game in the back of there minds. Then again a 13-or-so year build up will tend to set high expectations. I'm just glad it was different and not just another COD/MOH/BF rehash.

So I was listening to Talk Radar #158 this morning and while Chris Antista was discussing game deals he mentions the $20 coupon Kmart was offering at the time when you bought the game for $60. He says "There is no way that game should've been $60. The reviews would've been so much better.' And then the other guys chime in and agree emphatically.

        Just sayin'.

In reality the only games (IMO) that are worth $60 come to few and far between. They have to meet certain criteria.

          1. They need to have replay value. (Duke (once again IMO) does not)
          2. Storyline/Gameplay
          3. Graphics up to date (Duke fell far short of acceptable)
          4. They need some sort of multiplayer (if lacking, this can be made up for Ex. Mass Effect/Fallout)

For the most part 2/4 of this checklist can be seen prior to purchasing a game. However, you can't really tell the replay value/Game play unless you've already bought and began playing it.

So when it comes down to it. Was Duke Nukem Forever worth $60? No. Could you tell its worth prior to purchasing the game? No. Hindsight is 20/20

Should the game developer/ 2k games knew it wasn't worth $60? Yes. Should the game developer/ 2k games sold it for $60? Yes.

If I'm working at 2k, I want to milk every penny I can out of this franchise now, because Duke' Nukem is stale and not a hot commodity anymore (if it ever was).
