    [360] Xbox live update preview

basically the only downside to doing this is the inability to create a party chat with anyone who isnt in the preview

sign up if you want to join in

If you can't wait to check out some of the features on the way in the next Xbox 360 system update, you should consider signing up for the Xbox Live update preview program.

According to Major Nelson, all Xbox Live members are eligible (though gold subscribers have an edge over silver), and users accepted into the preview program will have the chance to check out:

"ESPN on Xbox LIVE, Zune music, Netflix search, the new Xbox LIVE dashboard, and new updates to Zune video and Family Settings on your Xbox 360."

Microsoft is apparently looking for multiple thousands of participants, so your chances of getting in aren't bad. Of course, there is some beauracracy involved: you need to first sign in to Microsoft Connect before you can take the survey and apply.

I wish they told you what you we're getting with the preview. Thanks.... but no thanks, I use the chat feature to much.

I signed up. I don't use party chat...says you can still chat against opponents online.

Time Warner in my area doesn't support ESPN3, so I wouldn't even be able to access it.

so it affects the chat and not parties? I never use the chat feature but use parties pretty much every night.

                          Other way around.

You can party chat, but they have to be part of the preview. You can't chat with non-preview gamers.

I read (before you agree to sign up to program) that you can not party chat w/ people not in beta but you can chat when playing against anyone online (aka in game chat).
