I just beat the campaign as well. This one was definitely the most intense and I'd rank them 3>1>2. The first game definitely had the most memorable events, but this one the battles were better through out. Still had some unanswered questions which I really don't like. I'm sure they'll answer it in the DLC or the books which is just a cash grab by the company.
Yeah Gears definitely stole from Halo seeing as Drudges are near clones of some of the Flood. Not to mention the whole mindless infected taking over everything angle.Comment

Obviously games steal from each other. I'm just saying those damn drudges are near carbon copies of this one type of Flood in Halo.Comment

In general, like fantasy shit, I think it'd be unfair to bitch about that shit because we're scraping the bottom of the barrel in both genres.Comment

And the Flood are very similar to some of the aliens in Half-Life. I get your point, but dunno if I'd really even think about it at this point :ionno:

I didn't mean to come across as a dick either. I was just speaking in the context of some people claiming that it wasn't a good story for an action game...which I think is silly, because think there are very few good stories for action games.Comment

In regards to the big "reveal" in Act 3...
While playing with Medellin and Swarley I said "I bet it's going to be zombies" and Med said "I swear if it is I'm done with this game!" Of course it basically is and he is obviously still playing but it was funny as shit. After dealing with those lambent "zombies" for a while I said "Man, this is eerily familiar to Uncharted 1" and Swarley said "I was going to say the exact same thing."
Sure, tons of games have done the zombie type thing. But this was nearly exactly the same as Uncharted. In both games they are traveling to an abandoned city only to find out that its inhabitants are now "infected".
The game play, graphics, cut scenes, co-op, weapons and everything else is still amazing though.Comment

I try not to be very critical of video game storylines. You can't hold them to the same standard as a movie or book because the story is always secondary to gameplay.Comment

Almost as funny as when Twigg claimed that Dom was a guido.

Shit in comparison to what? There are so few even good video game storylines, I'd be curious as to what you would consider so good that makes Gears shit.Comment

That was a great story!!! ...for michael bay
as for good Video game stories?
off the top of my head, Twilight Princess, Vice City, Red Dead Redemption, Dead space
Gears 3 is a great game and I am enjoying the hell out of it bc its fun to play, The "story" of Gears 3 is just an uninteresting means from point A to point B
IMO

and besides that, okay, the idea that you consider Twilight Princess, Vice City, RDR and Dead Space to be GOOD video game stories just makes me more confused.
I guess those games are okay story wise, but I wouldn't put any of them as leaps and bounds above Gears. To each their own though. Not really understanding how those are your basis for calling Gears "shit".Comment
