PS3 Netflix going disc free in 4 days, 1080i/5.1 Surround

A quick update, we have received a new version of the application from Netflix and we’re happy to report that the PlayStation 3 app will support 1080p.

What do you mean? Netflix will be pretty much on both platforms as an app. I think the Wii will still require a disc.

Its been an app on the 360 but only allowed up to 720p and didn't have surround sound.

The first post said MS' contract with Netflix was expiring so I took that to mean that 360 wouldn't have it anymore.

Nah....its the exclusive rights that are expiring. It will still have netflix. I am now wondering if they will bump 360 to 1080p too...

I'm finding sweet stuff to watch on there all the time. There are a TON of good documentaries, not to mention TV shows to watch. I'm still working on the 5 seasons of Gangland that I found on there a couple weeks ago..

How can you guys honestly say that it's a bad selection? Is it because of the lack of new movies or something? The only reason half of the movies aren't on streaming is because Sony doesn't like the fact that it will be on the 360 too, and I'm dead serious. Most of the movies that you all want that aren't streaming are the ones that are produced by Sony.

That is how they pretty much strongarmed Netflix into not renewing the contract with MS. Either deal with us, or we pull our movies...and they own a nice chunk
