I'm not gonna sell you anything. I am not sure why you wanna start a console war thread. After about 20 responses it is gonna get childish and everyone will stop making points and start calling each other fags and such.

u cant go wrong with either system. the game selection on the ps3 is now as robust as the 360.
if you like online, and all the chat features and dont mind paying for it, go with the 360
if you only play offline and want blue ray, go with the ps3
i have both and they each serve their own purpose for me.
ps3 is more of a media center for streaming from my pc or watching blue ray. the only games i play on it are ps3 exclusives. i hate its friends setup and communication and its trophy system
360 is my gaming center. any game i can play on the 360 is played on the 360. Its got streaming abilities of course, but its weak compared to ps3 -

It's simple.
If Blu-Ray/DVD movies interest you, you must get the PS3. It's a solid gaming machine and a brilliant Blu-Ray/DVD player.
If all that matters is gaming, 360.My Twitch video link: http://www.twitch.tv/dave374000

For all the naysayers pointing out that if you want to play online get the 360. Just look at the threads for Madden on PS3 and COD whenever each COD game comes out.
The madden threads are always blowing up, but everytime a new COD drops the PS3 crowd goes wild. The MW2 thread might be the most popular thread in the arcade. When Rainbow Six games were being released, people were going ape over that game on the PS3 as well.
The PS3 doesn't compare in its chat/community capabilities as the 360 does, but online gaming wise its right there. People obsessed with a video game social network should get the 360.
If you want Blu-ray AND kickass gaming online or offline go with the PS3. Also netflix is coming as an app, starting tomorrow to the PS3 and Hulu plus will be accessible on the PS3 soon. If you are a baseball fan, the mlb.tv app is tits, best streaming app I have ever encountered on any console.

Its pretty simple.
If you want to play madden or ncaa and use custom rosters go ps3. If you do go online there is a fairly small community here of players that play on the ps3. Although you'll have to put up with their constant rage because you can never finish a game and it lags to no end.
360 is what it is. Fairly solid all around. No custom rosters unless you do your own. Online actually works.
I'm going to go ahead and say fuck both of them. Get a decent PC.
Comes out in 2011 sometime.
/end thread.
