M$ is putting 500 million into their advertising campaign for the Kinect which is more money then they used for the 360 debut.

This is what I make of Sony Move and Kinect.

          Different Selling scenarios

          MOVE
Me: "you use a controller to play the games like the Wii"
Consumer: "Oh like a Wii...we already have that"
Me: "Well it is more precise and has better graphics"
          Consumer: "How much is it"
          Me: "Well....it depends"

          I am losing this sale.

          KINECT
          Consumer: "What is Kinect"
Me: Like the Wii but you dont need controllers"
Consumer: "WHAT?!?!? How the hell does that work"
Me: "Camera watches everything you do and puts it into the game"
Consumer: Wow thats interesting but wierd, How much"
          Me: "$150"
Consumer: "Hmmmmm and a game so that $200, Not sure"
Me: shows them Dance central (demo from store)

Not sure if I close that sale but I feel better selling Kinect than Move....IMO.

I wouldn't even sell this if I was a sales person.

Motion gaming as a whole is retarded as hell and a step backwards (imo) in gaming.

                      Leafs offseason training!

I suppose it could be marketed towards people who can't be bothered to kick their kids outside to go play...

Kinect will sell because the 360 caters to the growing casual gamer market with disposable incomes.

Shit'll really go down if a GoW or Halo title is developed for it.

You forgot the biggest factor. The room you need to adequately use Kinect. Its a joke. Do I have the room? Yup, but I'm the exception to the rule. Most people have much smaller living rooms or play in a bedroom.
And don't even get me started on the launch lineup. Laaaaaaame. Even OXM slammed it. It has basically NO games for core gamers. Dance Central is the closest thing.

I think both Move and Kinect are going to fail hard. But at least there seem to be a lot of developers on the Move side incorporating cool features in hardcore games. I just read an article in GamePro about FPS's and the Move shit for Killzone 3 is supposed to be a game changer.
I honestly can't even think of a legitimate use for Kinect in hardcore games besides the Minority Report menu shit.
Kinect will fail because of the room it needs and the lack of any "real" game support. Move will fail because it's a complete Wii rip off.

I have the new dashboard, and from the looks of it, MS seems to be "abandoning" the hardcore.

I put it in quotations because it's not quite full on abandonment, but it feels like it. It's smooth, it's pretty...most of all, it's "mom and dad have no idea how to play video games" easy. MS is skewing more and more towards the family gaming aspect, and with Kinect, they will win. Everyone is so sure these will be a huge bust...but most of you aren't in the key demographic.

I am. I am a married 34 year old man with 2 kids. I am the guy who was raised on video games, and is raising his kids on it, too. I can see this as the next step...REAL step, not like virtual reality or hokey shit like that...towards total immersion gaming. My demographic is the key to the success of this, and that's what MS really cares about. They don't really give a shit about you 20 year olds who play Gears and Madden, because you'll be there no matter what. They care about me, my family, and my (lack of) disposable income.

My kids, 8 and 11, are super excited for it, and they have a Wii they play nonstop. Hell, I'm looking forward to it just so I never have to use a DVD remote again. We're already talking about playing games on Christmas morning.
