Aren't newer model PS3's backward compatible?
(Serious question - haven't really followed anything to do with the PS3 since I got an 360 two years ago due to cost - but have got a summer job lined up and plan on diverting some of next years food money towards a PS3)
Comparing the 360 failure rate to the PS3 failure rate as if its an advantage, go youComment

Just a heads up, after you get it fixed, I'd sell it.
You can easily get $300-330 for that model (I did) on Ebay - that fix will only be temporary so if you plan on keeping it, consider that YLOD to rear it's ugly head again in the near future.

Seeing as how they were about to have a class action lawsuit levied against them for an apparent 60% failure rate, what choice did they have?
Boucher's PS3 breaking sucks dick but it should make for an interesting podcast discussion tomorrow. ;)
I just know my PS3 is going to be next. I have the worst luck with electronics. I'm on my fifth (or is it sixth?) 360 and still my first PS3. I'm on pins and needles.Comment
