im not sure what u mean about not attacking the varns.

from what i remember the vet told you to sneak attack the ostriches and get their loot so you can make potion to heal the horses.

that quest is basically a learning quest. there are several learning quests coming up for you now. teaching horse riding, potion making ect ect.

i dont ever rememebr seeing anything about not killing varns. they are enemies and they MUST DIE!!

In order to get to Hatmandor, you have to complete the [Desertgate] quest.

After crossing the gate, you will eventually come across guards who will warn you of the Varns, controlling all the gates. After getting to the first one [Hatmandor Region] (M12:1) you will come across a group of guards fighting the Varns. Try not to attack any of the guards as they will stop being your allies then. After clearing the road the gate will open and a few more Varns will appear. You can choose from two paths in order to get to Hatmandor – the main route (with more fights with Varns) or the hills (nearby the [Lost head] quest (M12:2)).

Now this sounds like its well after the Bayan and doing the ostriches and what not. But out in the fields I see these Varns I guess I'll just take them down.

are you reading what you are writing?

you asked about the varns and the vet quest, but your taking info from a wiki that is regarding the desertgate quest. that makes no sense.

Plus the desertgate wiki info you posted doesnt say anything about not killing Varns, it says not to kill the guards that are battling with the varns

            kill those varn bastards!

that desertgate quest is pretty cool. those guys are having a battle royal. i hit a few guards and they started to come after me. I had to reload and i sat back watched them fight it out. once they killed each other i went in and finished off the stragglers.

i did a kick ass quest last night. The Arena. its a side quest but it was a super fun side quest

Im way behind you in the game, I jumped 5 levels last night and am getting a better understanding of everything with the spells and shit. Im still doing the Ostriches but I found the Creepy Hollow and got that stone for the blacksmith, fucking Giant Ant came out of no where on me. But I did take down the Vards, the only thing i fucked up restarting the game was in my previous one I had the stones set so I can carry like 115 items, now Im only at 89 so I just keep breaking shit down.

I keep saying Im only gonna play for an hour a night and next thing I know its 2 horus and Im still going.

your playing a melee guy right? if so, breaking down and crafting will be nice for you because u have more resources to do upgrades. Mages are not as lucky.

One thing you want to work on is you metalergy which will unlock the skill next to it. Those will allow you to upgrade your weapons in the crafting screen. Fusion skill is also something you want to improve. This allows you to take identical stones that you find and fuse them into a better spell. For example, 2 +10 weight stones will get u 1 +20 stone.....with the limited number of slots for stones, this is crucial so you can use more stones. Upgrading will add more slots to your gear.

my carry is like 380 because i fused stones and have a bunch of +30 weight stones.

I also try to sell as much as i can rather than breaking it down. your gonna need alot of money to buy skill books. My best vendor sells them at 9000. Find a good vendor. I am lucky enough to have the mages guild and they sell shit for mages, and they have the best prices for me. I have not come across an area for warrior/archer types like the mages guild where you have 5 shopkeepers that all cater to mages

sidenote. I got the archmage necro staff like i was looking for earlier....that thing looks like shit comapred to the senior version. Archmage staffs are the best and senior is 3rd best. I guess i wont be using that staff. The fire, water, earth and air all look awesome, but the fire and water are the only ones i can get to light up/glow

Ive been upgrading my metalergy and I think last night was the first time I was able to upgrade teh Fusion skill. I'll double check that though. I spent 15 mintues last night just rolling dice and making money..

You were right, killing the animals in the savanaha (i think ) is getting me up there quicker. Im really just running around and killing shit for right now. If I come across a quest I do it. Im making my way to the Ostriches, they are marked on the map.

that is kind of how i played for the first 20 hours. just exploring, finding caves, doing side quests and killing anything i came across. Once i reached a comfort level with my guy i started hitting the main story lines.

they are some cool plots. the problem is the voice acting is so blah most of the time that i just read the text and push B to get thru it as fast as i can.

Do you have the battle cry skill unlocked yet? if you do let me know how that skill works. Its one of the few i can use as a mage and i am trying to find a skill book for it to try it out. I unlocked humbling blow but it seems like its just a kick in the head

No I dont have the Battle Skill Cry yet, but once I do I'll let you know. I do the same with the voices. its not that they bother me I just want to get back to doing things in the game.

im thinking back to what I have upgraded and wondering if I really need the drity tricks for now move it over to the Fusion and things like that.

i got dirty tricks, but i can only use it if i have a sword type weapon equipped...which i never do so i never get to use it. it wont work with the staff

fusion is very helpful for me. I have a hat, robe, boots, staff, 4 rings, a necklace, dagger.
Most have 2 slots now so thats about 18 total slots for stones. 18 may seem like alot, but when you figure i have 10 stones that are un-used because i only have 18 slots....thats why fusion is important

there is one thing that pisses me off though. you cant fuse different levels of stones. Like u cant fuse a level 1 weight with a level 3 weight. They must be identical stones and levels or it wont fuse.

So they need to be the same stone - Accuarcy 2 and Accuarcy 2, or can it be Accuarcy 1 and an Accuarcy 2? how do you do this I couldnt find it last night. I was trying but couldnt seem to do it. I know I was using different stones so that was part of it.

yes...exactly the same. in your inventory where the stones are...just highlight the spell and the Y option for FUSE will be there if it can be fused. u will also see the little Anvil icon too.

there are these green stones with a red color in the middle. i had identical ones that would not fuse. i dont know why, i assume they are a special stone. I also had a 50 weight stone that i couldnt add to any of my gear. not sure if it was my level not being high enough or what

sidenote....i got a black mages robe. as im sure u know, the paint colors for your clothes does not include the color black. Its a kick ass looking robe....only problem is i dont have a black hat

Glad your problem is only a black hat. My dumb ass last night went into some cave with three giant Scorpions. I hammered two of them but I should have went back to Alimas and returned the roots so i can learn alchemy.

Looks like a long night of playing after work.

after about 50 hours of gameplay i am done with chapter 1 and finally able to get off the savannah island and move on to the next island. The next one isnt quite as big.

Although there is another one thats about 3 times the size of the savannah island
