Well, if I were to tell you I played WoW for the better part of 3 years, enjoying mostly everything about the game [except for time commitments and intense scheduling to MODERATELY progress], would you tell me this is the game for me?
I'm a big fan of Dark Alliance 1 & 2, Champions of Norrath, and even the 64 version of Gauntlet. I didn't really like Fable all that much, but I played WoW, Neverwinter Nights, Diablo 2, etc. on PC.
I like leveling up, I like having a multitude of skills at my disposal, and I like character customization [in terms of attacks, items, etc, nothing graphically speaking].
What say you?Comment

of course i would say get it. but manchild is a sports gamer and and trying to grasp everything this has to offer might be tough going and not as enjoyable as a guy like you who played WOW for years.
im not saying he wouldnt enjoy it, but its more 50/50 for him. this is not a Fable style game, which i also did not enjoy
i been reading more about the spells in this game. seems that the spell making options are endless. one guy i talked to says that if you dabble in each of the 3 classes that its ok, but if you focus your points on all mage that its insaneComment

Thanks for the help Maynard, also I didnt mean WOW as in World of Warcraft LOL.
Off to Target, lets see what I come home with. My dumb ass will come home empty handed.Comment

I'll post my GT once I actually determine one.Comment

Manchild, you can get Red Dead Redemption for 20 bucks here, as long as you fill it in with a 4.99 filler game, which shouldn't be a problem.Comment

im getting a bit frustrated with mage abilities. I am playing the beginning missions and side quests so I assume there difficulty falls in line with where a starting player would be. Along the path i come across giant ants or these creatures called gorrs or something. As a mage i only have a few spells. Each of which seems to do little damage. Take the Ant for example. I hit him 5 times with a fire bolt, run away so he doesnt hit me, fire 5 more times. rinse/repeat about 4 times. Thats like 20 hits. meanwhile he hits me 3-4 times and i am dead.....thats where the frustration comes in....dieing and having to do it over again. Plus the hit and run method isnt exactly stratigic and its kind of lame.
I could see if i was wandering into areas that i shouldnt be. But where i am coming across these enemies is in the course of playing the very first side quest you open in the game.....(for a sidequest its very long...took about 2 hours a gametime to finally finish). I am a level 8 and i am now only sinking points into mage.
even using my melee setup (u can switch thru 3 setups while playing so i have a mage, melee and archer setup) and trying to melee fight a enemy is extremely tough. Its easier than as a mage though. It just feels like the balance is off right now. Maybe thats how they want it to be and i will get stronger while they stay the same. There are some real weak enemies to.
I came to another sidequest last night where i am to find some runes for a forger. I go in this cave and 1 fucking skeleton dude kept beating the shit out of me. with melee i had a chance, but as a mage i had no chance cause i would hit him 10 times and it did nothing to slow him down....maybe i am using the wrong type of spell against skeletons. I have fire, water and air available. but none worked. Plus its dark as fuck in there. I have a torch but i cant hold my torch while fighting so as soon as the torch is out i cant see shit
anyways.....i been playing for what seems like a long time now, but really i have only scratched the surface....barely. I am nowhere close to where i expected to be in my knowledge of spells and potions. Plus u have to find and read books to open skills for each class. and i am not finding any of these books to make my guy betterComment

I've only barely scratched the surface as well...made the mistake of trading off with a friend last night during the entire prologue area [which was a lot longer than I really expected] and missed out on a lot of shit just because we would talk or something.
Gonna try and re-do that portion sometime today if I get the chance. The game is a lot more in-depth than I had even first realized. Looks like it could be good.
The hand gestures did get annoying rather quickly, not a deal-breaker, just a bit funny. I also don't like how I talk like Christian Bale 150% of the time.Comment

well I came home with nothing, but I think thats because I got sick from Pizza Hut last night.
I had Red Dead in my hand, and Two Worlds 2 (the thing that interests me in this game because Ive always been interested in LOTR type shit) I think I held out too because Im going to the Gamestop tonight and will probably get rid of all my games for trade ins.Comment

the hand gesture thing actually gets better as u play cause you will be hold stuff.
i am also amazed at how much there is to do in this game. the depth of the game is crazy...plus the size of the land is massive. Thats what i really love about itComment

the voices are just bad. Sometimes they are so bad and can even be funny, but most of it is bad.
