I'm going to jump into online right away. I'll give impressions after a few matches.

I played a few matches. Of course I suck but it seems like solid multiplayer. I like the whole idea of the Battle Points system.

I saw people controlling little remote tank looking things, hellfire missiles firing all over the place, enemies on roofs. The two maps I played seemed pretty interesting as well. Lots of places to maneuver around in.

As far as single player goes, the end of chapter 2 was a real mind fuck. I'm really, really liking the campaign, although I have a feeling it will be MW2 type short. It reminds me so much of Metro 2033 in that it is just so atmospheric. Also in the way you can talk to NPC's, the gunplay, the fact that you are constantly scrounging for ammo and using rag tag weapons, etc. Just so many similarities. I guess it's no coincidence that both games were published by THQ.

I've played about 2 hours online. Here are some thoughts so far

          - The maps seem big but not too big. You rarely find yourself having to walk to the action like in Battlefield. There seems to be something going around you all the time.

          - The vehicles are not as great as Bad Company 2, but there are more types and they are easy enough that the casual gamer can use them, but if you really want to do damage with them, you need to actually learn to use them. While I think they are too easy to get, they can be destroyed rather easily through various weapons/other vehicles. Bottom line - 2nd best console game to actually use them behind Bad Company 2.

          - There is no lag at all despite them saying the game is overpopulated and they are adding more servers as they day goes on. I had trouble finding a ground control 32 player room, but all the other modes I got into a room rather quick.

          - The hit detection is exactly like Bad Company 2. Even the hit register and text symbol saying you got the kill or assist looks like it. I like the fact that while it's still possibl to snipe with assault rifles, it isn't easy.

          - The battle points are the best thing about the game early on. Each game you start with 500 and you can buy your special weapons with them like tiny drone cars/helicopters or even predator missile/UAVs, and flak jackets. When you die and spawn, you can buy a vehicle to start in, but the great ones are still locked early on since you need to get to level 30,40, and 50.

          - They have perks but so far haven't noticed an overused one yet.

          - There is no killcam.

          - The game is very fun. Like I said it's like a Bad Company copy that does enough to call it its own thing. I won't review it for 2-3 weeks of online to see if it has lasting power, but for now I really like what I've played.

Critics seem to be pretty divided on this game.

The ones I typically trust have it in the 50-70% range, while others rate it 80-90%.

The sites I go to have it in the 5-7 range as well so i was ready to be disappointed when i bought it, but it's badass early on. I just don't understand how a decent shooter gets rated a 5 though. That makes it sound like the online is broke and the single player is short. I really do think that the short campaign mode really left a bad taste in reviewers mind because the online is tits. If I were to rate it right now based on what I played so far of both modes its a solid 8 weighing more to an 8.5 then it is a 7.5.

Well that is a damn shame. He is usually spot on with that stuff. I trust him a lot more than IGN. But if they are both saying about the same thing then it has to be true.
