Yeah, that encyclopedia is awesome. And if you are about to dive into MGS4 Maynard and either haven't played the the previous three games or can't remember what happened, it's a must.

if you havent played the first three MGS games i wouldnt even bother playing the 4th one (even with that database thing). its so cutscene heavy and story based you would be so incredibly lost (i couldnt imagine maynard sitting there watching hours upon hours of cutscenes not having a clue whats going on and still enjoying it). i played all the MGS games and still found myself scratching my head at times trying to remember the relevance of something. MGS4 is still incredible gameplay wise (i didnt care much for online though) but i find it hard to recommend it to someone who isnt well versed in the metal gear solid world.

exactly why i never bought or played it. I only beat 1 and 2 and was lost a little in those. Fuck epic japanese stories.

Yeah, I slept on 3 forever. Then I finally scored a copy of Subsistence and was hooked as soon as I put it in the console.

And it made 4 that much better because I played 3 and 4 back-to-back.

i played a MG game before. i want to say it was 1 or 2. It was before that training ops MG game was released. I also played MGS4 a few times. Just never got by the first 3 hours or so. Got to some gun dealer...black dude i think.

this one had the cutscenes but they transitioned so well to gameplay that it was much more enjoyable. i am determined to get into this game. not for the story but for the stealth play...i love that shit

Okay, for those of you listing games that are both on the 360 and PS3, and have a multiplayer mode (besides NBA 2k11,) don't bother with those, because I either am going to get them for the 360 or I don't want them. Thanks anyways though.

If you are going to get ME2 and haven't played ME1 on 360, get it for PS3. All the DLC is included for the same price.

It would make sense but I thought I read somewhere they Bioware said they will not be releasing a GOTY type edition of ME2.

i am getting ME2 to keep as a collectors item (no pun intended) but would rather have the 360 version since ME1 is only on 360.

still the ps3 version using the ME3 engine is also intriguing
