So, I have only watched the Destroy one, which is what I did on my completion of it. I think they did clarify it a lot better than I thought they would, and they have managed to fill in a lot of logic fails and confusing aspects. That being said though, it just makes me irritated that they pretty much are admitting with this that what they released wasn't their final product. It's great that they're giving this away for free, but the confusion of the first endings can't be taken away now, by just adding this after the fact. It's just a shame they didn't hold off a few months and release it with this as the ending, as I think ME3 would have been the epic conclusion a lot of people were expecting (don't get me wrong, I still loved the game, but this ending is definitely better and would have been more satisfying).Comment

I chose Control on my initial play through. After watching the new extended ending, I feel like it is the best choice. It's the only ending where Shepard "lives", allowing him to continue to help the galaxy and rebuild after the war.

It's an improvement, but not by much. The Fallout-esque slides that reflect the final outcomes of your choices were an interesting choice, but probably the only realistic way BioWare would be able to address that issue.

It looks like the PC version of the Extended Cut gives some insight into possible future DLCs including one about a Reaper called Leviathan that you first learn about in the Bring Down the Sky DLC from ME1.
You can even read some of the related dialogue from the text file that's linked from that thread.
